🎓Post-16 Open Days & Taster Opportunities

Are you a Year 10 or Year 11 student thinking about your next steps after secondary school? We’re sharing a range of open days, college visits and taster opportunities to help students explore their options and find the right pathway for them.

📍 Safe Start Post-16
• Tuesday 29 September – 3:30–4:30pm
• Wednesday 30 September – 3:30–4:30pm

📍 Tameside College
• Monday 28 September
• Saturday 10 October
• Monday 16 November

📍 Oldham College – Open Events
• Wednesday 7 October – 4:30–6:30pm
• Saturday 14 November – 10:30am

📍 Pinc College – Taster Days
• 13–17 October

These opportunities are a great chance for students to explore courses, meet staff, experience different settings and ask questions about their future.

We encourage students to take advantage of these opportunities and respond to the sessions they are interested in as soon as possible, as places may be limited.

Jeans for Genes Day!💙👖

This Friday, we’ll be coming together to support Jeans for Genes Day and help raise awareness and funds for children and families living with genetic conditions.

Our pupils (and staff!) are invited to wear their jeans to school on Friday and show their support. We’re asking for a £1 donation where possible, although donations are completely optional.

A big thank you to everyone for getting involved and helping us support such an important cause!💙

Our Post-16 provision is officially OPEN!🎉

We’re delighted to share that Safe Start’s Post-16 programme launched this September, and we’re incredibly proud of how brilliantly it has started!

Our new provision has been created to give young people a tailored, supportive and engaging next step after school, built around their individual needs, aspirations and EHCP outcomes.

Learners are developing real-life skills, confidence and independence through a mixture of classroom learning, vocational opportunities, practical activities, community-based learning and work-related experiences.

With pathways spanning Creative Arts, Digital Skills & Photography, Hair & Beauty, Childcare, Music, Food & Hospitality, Careers & Employability, alongside ASDAN and NCFE accredited learning, there are lots of opportunities for our young people to discover their strengths and work towards their future goals.

It has been fantastic to see our learners settling into Post-16 life, getting involved, building relationships and making such a positive start.

This is just the beginning - and we can’t wait to see what they achieve!

🎉AFTER-SCHOOL CLUBS ARE HERE!🎉

We’re excited to announce that we’ll be offering after-school clubs Monday–Friday for our KS3 & KS4 students!🌟

Clubs will run from 2:30pm–3:15pm, giving students the opportunity to have fun, try something new and spend time with friends after the school day.💙

Places are limited, so if you would like your child to attend, please let us know as soon as possible to secure their place.

What a fantastic Sports Day at Safe Start School!🏅

What an amazing afternoon filled with teamwork, determination, laughter and plenty of friendly competition!🌞

Our students took part in a range of activities including bean bag throw, basketball shootout, water relay, egg & spoon race, archery, sack race and the always exciting tug of war! 🏀🏹🥚🥄💦

It was wonderful to see everyone encouraging one another, giving their best effort and having so much fun together. A huge well done to all of our students for their brilliant sportsmanship and enthusiasm, and thank you to our staff for making the day such a success.

🚆We are delighted to share that our school has achieved the Bronze Rail Safe Friendly Certification!

This award recognises our commitment to raising vital rail safety awareness among our pupils and helping them understand how to stay safe around the railway.

Rail safety is a message that extends beyond the classroom, so we encourage all parents and carers to take a few moments to read the Rail Safe Friendly information being shared. By working together, we can help keep children and young people safe and support the mission to eradicate trespassing on the railway network.

A huge well done to everyone involved in helping us achieve this important recognition!🏅

At the end of last term, Thrive 1 enjoyed an exciting trip to Gulliver’s World!☀️🎢

The children had an amazing day making memories with their friends, exploring the rides and attractions, and enjoying the beautiful sunshine. There were lots of smiles, laughter, and opportunities to build confidence and independence throughout the day.

A fantastic time was had by all, and it was the perfect way to celebrate a successful term together!🌟
