This term our Reception children are learning all about dinosaurs, extinction and endangered animals. So far they have enjoyed acting out the story Stomp Dinosaur Stomp, learning about the theories around the extinction, coming up with their own questions about dinosaurs, playing with small world figures, investigating which dinosaurs were carnivores, herbivores and omnivores and exploring fossils and bones.

🌟🌟So, so proud of our fantastic Inspire choir children today at the Victorious Voices event at the The Plaza Stockport. They behaved impeccably all day and their performance was simply amazing ❤️
Today was the first time for many children of performing on stage, in a professional venue, in front of a large audience, BUT I know 100% that it will not be the last! We have so many stars in the making!
Giving our children these opportunities to shine is what it’s all about…
Literally fills our hearts to the brim!
❤️

The May and June half-term will feature an exciting programme hosted by Tameside Council’s Library and Cultural Services Team.

Make, Do and Play will be taking place at Portland Basin Museum on Tuesdays and Thursdays 11am – 3pm throughout the holidays, children can come along and create tulips, artwork, illustrations, and puppets. There is also a draw-along session with local artist Caroline Coates. Each Make, Do and Play session costs £1.40 per child.

On Friday 29 May, little ones can get hands-on, and enjoy free messy fun with mud painting, bubble-making, colourful chalk and nature mandalas. Taking place at Portland Basin 11am – 3pm.

‍On Saturday 30 May, free Outdoor Arts sessions will be taking place where children can create artwork using materials from nature, like leaves and shells. Drop in any time between 10am - 12pm at Portland Basin Museum.

On Friday 5 June, join in a free family‑friendly outdoor art adventure and get creative making mini cork boats, then watch them bob and float in the water tray, set on the wharf. Drop into Portland Basin from 11am - 3pm.

There’s an ocean theme to the free Tameside Libraries events this half term, with crafts, activities, games and more. Each library has an event, look at the What’s On page via www.tameside.gov.uk/libraries for details.

The ‘Look for a Book’ scavenger hunt also returns to Tameside Libraries for the half-term. Across the borough, families can search for hidden copies of Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae - a new picture book celebrating music and family.
Clues will be posted daily on the Tameside Libraries page, and one lucky finder may even get the chance to meet Corinne herself.

Tameside Council’s Strategic Director of Housing, Environment & Estates, Julian Jackson, said: “We want as many residents as possible to make the most of the fantastic half‑term offer. There are lots of free and low‑cost activities available so everyone can get involved. Make sure you come along and join in the fun.”

Victorious Voyage value …
Today we all learned what to do in an emergency, how to call the emergency services, the importance of knowing our own address and how to help with situations requiring basic first aid! Even our youngest children were amazing!

Victorious Values value ...
Today we learned what to do in an emergency, how to call the emergency services, the importance of knowing our own address and how to help with situations requiring basic first aid. Even our youngest children should be super knowledgeable (ask them!) - what an achievement!
