In 1954, a high school math teacher in Japan named Toru Kumon found a crumpled math test in his young son Takeshi’s pocket. Takeshi was struggling, and like any parent, Toru wanted to help. But he didn’t just give him the answers.

Toru began hand-writing custom worksheets for Takeshi every night. He realized that if Takeshi mastered the basics, step-by-step, just a few minutes a day, he would eventually have the confidence to tackle anything.

By the time Takeshi was in year 6, he was comfortably solving calculus!

Toru’s "fatherly intuition" became the Kumon Method we use today right here in Ashton. It’s not about tutoring; it’s about giving your child the tools to teach themselves.

Marking your children's work is a quickfire way to accelerate their progress. By marking work on completion you give our students the opportunity to correct their mistakes straight away.
