Unbelievably my littlest is soon approaching the ‘preschool’ year. We’ve been working on school ready activities. Number recognition, initial sounds, letter formation, motor skills etc.

From September I shall be running some ‘Getting ready for school’ workshops for both parents and their preschoolers. Get in touch for more info and if you’d like to be added to my wait list.

“How many more conkers do we need until we have 1000 Mummy?” Seriously, probably only about 7!!

Made a wet, rainy Saturday slightly more interesting though. Great for the little man’s name recognition.

M has also been teaching him his colours and shapes - she’s doing a great job. So this morning I stuck a great big sheet of sticky back plastic to the window to see how he’d get on. Amazingly this lasted the whole day - he started it in his PJs and has ‘just finished off’ before going to bed this evening. He kept going back to it throughout the day to add a little more.

So last week M went back to school. After 165 days at home with me and T it was emotional - not her but T. He was devastated that she had ‘left’ him and it’s taken us a good few days to adjust. He had loved having lessons with her so I set him up something of his own for when we got back from the school run. A big genuine smile back on his face and not the usual sobbing we experienced last week. He starts his very own nursery journey on Wednesday and it’s safe to say he’s ready.

Real or Nonsense? Blocks used from a shape sorter game and colour coded for initial sounds, middle digraphs and end sounds. M had to roll the ‘dice’ and put the letters in order to make words. Which ones are real and which are nonsense?
