Today we are celebrating another strong year of GCSE results!๐คฉ
This year's outcomes reflect the cohort's hard work, resilience and determination throughout their time at our school. They also continue our positive trajectory, achieving above national averages and continuing to rise across the board. The results demonstrate our ongoing commitment to ensuring all students achieve success and leave well prepared for the next stage of their education, training or employment.
Among the many success stories being celebrated today are several students who achieved exceptional individual results, demonstrating outstanding commitment to their studies and setting themselves up for bright futures.
๐ Joel M with three Grade 9s, four Grade 8s and three Grade 7s. Joel has chosen to continue his studies at Ashington Academy at sixth form and has enrolled onto maths, further maths, PE and economics.
๐ Billy W who achieved two Grade 9s, three Grade 8s and four Grade 7s. Billy is staying at our sixth form, NE6 and will be studying maths, further maths, physics and economics.
๐ William I is also returning to Ashington for sixth form to study maths, further maths, chemistry and physics, having achieved two Grade 9s, five Grade 8s and one Grade 7.
๐ Gabrielle P was awarded two Grade 9s, five Grade 8s and a Grade 7 and will also join NE6 in September to study PE, chemistry and biology.
๐ Olivia L and Harry S both achieved very strong outcomes and will be heading to the prestigious Shipley College in Henley with a rowing scholarship.
We are thrilled that so many students will now continue their educational journey at NE6, our thriving sixth form, and as others embark on apprenticeships, college courses and specialist training programmes, we wish them the best of luck in their next steps.
Yvonne Weston, our Executive Headteacher, said:
"We are incredibly proud of every student receiving their results today. These outcomes represent years of dedication, perseverance and hard work, and it has been wonderful to celebrate alongside students and staff today.โ
Laura Smith, our Associate Headteacher, added:
โWe are delighted to see so many students achieving outcomes that will allow them to move confidently on to their next steps. We would also like to thank our staff, families and wider school community for the support they have provided throughout our students' journeys.
This year's results continue to build on the academy's recent successes and reflect the high aspirations we have in place at Ashington Academy. The school remains committed to providing an excellent education, broad opportunities and exceptional support to ensure every student can achieve their potential."

Today our Year 13 students are celebrating a wonderful set of A level results!๐คฉ
It has been another fantastic A level results day at Ashington Academy, with students and staff celebrating a superb set of outcomes across both A level and Applied General qualifications. We are delighted to announce a 100% pass rate again, reflecting the hard work, commitment and resilience shown by our Year 13 students throughout their studies.
This year's results demonstrate the high levels of achievement across our Sixth Form, with 31% of all grades awarded at A/A* or equivalent, and 61% achieved at A*-B. Students taking A level qualifications performed exceptionally well, with 57% of grades awarded at A*-B, while those studying Applied General qualifications achieved outstanding success, with 93% of grades awarded at Distinction to Distinction*. These results reflect not only the dedication of our students, but also the unwavering support provided by families, teachers and support staff throughout their sixth form journey.
Many students have now secured their next steps and will be progressing to universities, higher-level apprenticeships, employment and training opportunities across the region and beyond, including Engineering at Sheffield University, Medicine at Lancaster University, and Sport Management at Loughborough University.
Laura Smith, Associate Headteacher, said: "We are incredibly proud of everything our Year 13 students have achieved. These results are the culmination of years of hard work, determination and perseverance. It has been wonderful to celebrate alongside them today as they take the next exciting steps in their education, training and careers. We wish every student the very best for the future."
Yvonne Weston, Executive Headteacher, added: "Congratulations to our Year 13 students on an excellent set of results. Achieving a 100% pass rate alongside such strong outcomes at the highest grades is a remarkable achievement and reflects the ambition, resilience and commitment shown by our students every day. I would also like to thank our dedicated staff and the families who have supported our young people throughout their time at Ashington Academy."
