Parents’ Evening is in full swing at Castle School!

It’s been wonderful to welcome so many families into school and share those all-important conversations about how pupils are settling in and their progress.

A big thank you to Citizens Advice Bureau for attending and signposting families to services that can offer support.

We’ve also been delighted to provide free books for parents and children to enjoy! And, of course, there’s been plenty of coffee and biscuits to keep everyone going! ☕🍪

Thank you to our families for taking the time to come along and to our staff for making everyone feel so welcome.

Orange 1 and 2 have been busy developing their gross motor skills during PE!

The pupils enjoyed using our accessible bikes, with some fantastic turn-taking too.

📚✨ From an idea to reality in less than a week! ✨📚

We are absolutely delighted to share our brand-new library at Castle School!

What a transformation! In less than a week, our incredible staff have worked together to turn an idea into a beautiful, welcoming space where our pupils can explore books, develop a love of reading and enjoy special moments of shared stories and learning.

We want to give a massive shout-out to the staff who have made this happen! 👏 Your commitment, hard work, creativity and willingness to go that extra mile have been amazing - even coming in at the weekend to finish!

Seeing our pupils already enjoying their new library makes every bit of effort worthwhile.

At Castle, we know that reading is about so much more than books. It supports communication, imagination, wellbeing and independence — our golden threads that run through everything we do.

We thought we would share some photos of the transformation from start to finish, alongside a very special picture of one of our pupils enjoying the space. This is what it is all about!

Green 1 have thoroughly enjoyed exploring our topic, ‘All About Me,’ through a sensory lens.

They have explored a variety of materials, sounds and tastes, expressing likes and dislikes and communicating their personal preferences through gestures, vocalisations and visual aids during Sensology, Sensory Story and Vi sessions.

Our Post-14 pupils have been enjoying a lovely sensory after-school club!

They’ve been treated to some relaxing pampering, including foot spas and gentle hand and foot massages.
A calming way to unwind, relax and enjoy some quiet time together.

Blue 1 had a fantastic morning at Briardale House Sensory garden! We explored the woods, built in the construction area and of course had fun on the slides and swings.

It is a great space and a fully enclosed area with lots of space for the children to freely explore and regulate whilst being outdoors!

Red 3 have been working hard on their rugby skills, practising how to pass the ball accurately and move into space afterwards.

It has been lovely to see the pupils becoming more confident, improving their coordination and working together as a team.

Purple 2 pupils have had a fantastic time developing their skills out in the local community!

They collected the bread order, kindly donated from Greggs and also made an independent choice of food item. They then headed to the park, where they helped to look after their local community by litter picking before enjoying the play equipment together.

A great opportunity to develop independence and communication skills!
