This weeks we spent time learning about the environment and what we can do to help look after it.

We spent some time using materials that would usually be thrown away to draw and decorate.

The children enjoyed planting cress seeds in their decorated pots to take home and watch grow.

The highlight of the week was litter picking. All of the little ones really enjoyed getting stuck in and finding lots of rubbish to collect on our walks. We discussed how the rubbish is damaging to nature and why it is important to dispose of all of our waste in the appropriate ways.

Next week our topic will be trains!

A wonderful week full of COLOUR!

This week the children explored colour in lots of fun ways. We used paint to get messy and see what colours we could make when we mixed other colours. We went on a nature walk and made a picture with things we found outside in lots of different colours. These are great and fun ways to get the children thinking about the world around them.

Next week we will be focusing on the natural world and our environment.

We decorated some cards and gifts for all of the wonderful mums this week. We took a rice and pom pom tuff tray to play group. Lots of park visits and we welcomed a new little one into the setting. We are feeling very excited about the warmer weather!

what a busy week! We played with food messy play at play group, the crushing of cereal and smell and taste of lime was really interesting for the little ones to explore.

We built road puzzles and went for some very muddy walks.

On the school run this week we saw lots of bees. We saved a poorly bee from the pathway and put it in a bush nice and safe, and then we watched as other bees gathered their pollen.

We hope you've all had a lovely half term. We have been very busy this week with trips to the library and woodland walks with friends.

We have celebrated Valentine's Day and the people we love with Valentines cards, chocolate strawberries and heart shaped pizza. Needless to say the little ones love getting their hands mucky in the kitchen and then enjoying the food afterwards too!

We had a valentines tuff tray where they could fill their pots with love (in the form of beads, pom poms and match sticks) a great way to spark imagination play and develop fine motor skills.

On Tuesday we were invited to a friends house to enjoy pancakes, such a treat.

The little ones got to practice road safety, and important interactions out in the world with a couple of bus trips. There were some very smiley faces.

It was children's mental health awareness this week so I wanted to focus on the children's choices, speaking about what makes them feel good and identifies them. They decided on our activities and it was a more relaxed, learning environment at the setting.

We played salons and I got a beautiful make over.
We created rainbow clouds where by the children got to think about what makes them unique. Who they love within their family, pets and what it is that makes them feel happy. These were lovely conversations to have with the little ones, I would encourage you to talk about all the things that make your little people happy/sad/have big feelings.

We went for a windy and wet park picnic and did a valentines craft which we will reveal next week! And the children chose which exercise videos they wanted to do to help move their bodies and get them feeling great.

Have a great weekend.

Good Morning :)

I am very pleased to finally be able to share with you all that we have been graded 'Good' by Ofsted in our recent inspection. I am extremely proud of this grade and have worked very hard over the last two years to become the best childminder I can for all of the little ones in my care. I appreciate all of the feedback on my report in a constructive manner and can't wait to work to put all of the comments into action to ensure I am giving the little ones the best possible start in their early years journey. You will be ably to find my report on the Ofsted website at some point over the next 8 days. If you have any questions please let me know :) Thank you for your continued support.

Children's Mental Health Week 28/01/2024

Hello!

Children's Mental Health week starts on the 5th February. It's a great way to learn a little bit more about how we can help give children a voice and let it be heard. We will be doing lots of activities that give the opportunity for your little ones to recognise emotions and feelings, mental health and how they are able to communicate. There are so many ways you can get involved at home too :)

Children's Mental Health Week Place2Be's Official Children’s Mental Health Week shines a spotlight on the importance of children's and young people's mental health.

What a busy week we've had! A mixture of sunny days and rain so lots of indoor and outdoor play.

We took a bus to the library which the little ones loved. We've built dens and done some colouring. As they are growing they're getting more and more creative with the colours and designs they choose.
We read a book about rain and how rainbows are made and the children created a rainbow craft.

We took a great fine motor tuff tray to play group. Very simple to make with cardboard, pipe cleaners, match sticks, pegs and some fruit pouches for the screw cap.

We also got outside and practised using bikes and scooters and then rounded the week off with a visit to Little Street, always a hit!

Have a lovely weekend
