π Week 4: Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell
π¦ Activities:
Visit the Zoo - Can you spot any of the animals from the story?
Animal Sorting β Sort toy animals by size or colour.
Build a Zoo β Make enclosures using blocks and toy animals.
Animal Movement Challenge β Stomp like an elephant or jump like a frog.
Letter Writing β Draw a picture and "write" to the zoo asking for your favourite animal.
Share the story - Read Dear Zoo with someone special.

π Week 3: Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson
π§Ή Activities:
Make Your Own Magic Wand β¨ - Create a wand using sticks from the garden, ribbons, stickers or coloured paper.
Witch's Potion Sensory Play π§ͺ - Set up a pretend potion station using water, cups, spoons, natural items (leaves, petals, sticks) and colourful ingredients.
Create a Dragon Craft π - Make a friendly dragon using paper plates, paint, collage materials or recycled boxes.
Broomstick Flying Game π§Ή - Turn your garden or room into a magical adventure. Children can fly around on a pretend broomstick, stopping at different places to act out parts of the story.
Character Matching Game πΆπ¦πΈ - Create or print pictures of the characters from the story and play a simple matching game.

π Week 2: We're Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen
π» Activities:
Sensory Play β Create trays with grass, water and mud to explore.
Obstacle Course β Act out the journey through the story.
Bear Mask Craft β Make a simple bear face using paper plates.
Build a Bear Cave β Use blankets, cushions and chairs to create a cosy cave, then hide a teddy bear inside for children to discover.
Teddy Bear Picnic β Pack a blanket and some snacks and have a picnic with your favourite teddy bears, just like an adventure in the story.

πβ¨ Introducing our Book of the Week! β¨π
Although Tots & Tales is taking a little summer break, we still want to keep the magic of stories going at home!
Each week throughout the holidays, we'll be sharing one of our favourite children's books along with five simple activities inspired by the story. From crafts and sensory play to movement and outdoor adventures, there will be lots of fun ways to bring each book to life with your little ones.
These activities are designed for children aged 2β4 and are all about encouraging a love of books, sparking imagination and creating special moments together.
We'd absolutely love for you to join in! Share your photos in the comments, tell us which activities you've tried, and let us know if your little one has a favourite book you'd like us to feature.
