A Tribunal appeal doesn’t have to mean waiting months for a hearing.

In this case, the placement issue was actively progressed while the appeal was ongoing. The evidence was kept under review, the issues were narrowed and the Local Authority ultimately agreed the specialist school the family had been seeking.

An appeal can protect your position without Tribunal having to be the end goal.

One of the biggest problems we see is families waiting to see what the Local Authority does next, while weeks and months pass and very little actually moves forward.

You do not have to choose between appealing and continuing discussions.

You can protect your right of appeal, register the case where needed, and still continue with mediation, negotiation and discussions with the Local Authority at the same time.

In many cases, that is exactly what helps move things on.

The aim is not to get every case to a final hearing.

The aim is to keep the case moving, narrow the issues, resolve what can be resolved and, where possible, reach the right outcome before a hearing is ever needed.

That is why we see an appeal as part of the strategy, not the destination.
