We have been so busy at Playscheme and had so much fun.
We have been pirates for the day, looking for treasure and building boats to sail the seas.
We looked at how we can change colour through light using torches,mirrors and transparent materials and by mixing colours too.
Whilst we were chefs we designed our own pizzas, topped with our favourite foods and made fresh lemonade, squeezing fresh lemons and mixing with sugar and water.......it was delicious!
Messy day was great fun mixing paint and foam then driving cars through to mix the colours and create patterns on paper, then we made saltdough shapes using tools and cutters and created our own bubbles by mixing washing up liquid with water and using our hands to blow bubbles.

Soon it is playscheme again!
We will be open during this Summer holidays from Wednesday 22nd July until Thursday 27th August.
At our Newtown Branch we will be open on Tuesday & Wednesdays and at the Kingsnorth Rd Branch we are open Monday & Thursdays. We will be closed on Fridays.

Last week Oak class explored Europe, Italy.....building the Colosseum and making shapes from dried spaghetti.
Spain...we coloured flags to make fans and searched for mini flags in the sand.
Iceland ....we created a volcano and pictures of the Northern Lights.
We also enjoyed snack from Europe too!
This week, due to the extreme heat we postponed Sports Week, partaking in some indoor, gentle team activities such as egg and spoon and balancing a beanbag on their head.
Ash class have been exploring their Beach theme....creating marks and sandcastles and making their own beach.
Both classes have experienced lots of water play this week and stories in the shade whilst enjoying ice poles.

Thankyou for providing sun cream and extra clothes this week, and for those of you that stayed home we hope you enjoyed cooling activities too.
We look forward to seeing you all again next week, hopefully a little cooler!

Due to the hot weather, we will be monitoring the
children’s fluid intake closely. If your child struggles to drink or becomes unsettled due to the extreme heat we will be phoning for collection. As the hottest part of the day is between 12-3pm we are happy for you to collect your children early, please let the office know when bringing the children in. With the Extreme High Temperature Warning, while we have no plans to close tomorrow (Friday 26th June), we will be doing our best to keep the children as cool as possible. Please note that we do not have air conditioning at the nursery and will be limiting outdoor play to first thing in the morning. We are aware many schools are closing and therefore if you plan to keep your child with you at home please email us on [email protected] to let us know asap.
If your child does come in, please ensure they have sunscreen applied, are in cool loose clothing, have named hats and a change of similar clothes to allow water play. Many thanks and keep safe everyone!

It has been a busy few weeks since Half Term....we have had visits from both the Firefighters and Jaws and Claws with some interesting creatures , which we hope the children have told you all about.
Last week we learnt about Australia, and created aboriginal patterns on boomerangs and built our own barrier reefs for the sea creatures.
This week we have learnt about China, practiced using chopsticks, built a Great Wall and had a try at Chinese writing.

Reminders: The professional photographer will be here and taking most of the photos Thursday & Friday (he may pop in on Wednesday). It is also Half Term next week! We will be running playscheme, but it is not a 'normal' funded week and sessions are not funded. We would also like to kindly remind everyone to make sure that our gates are properly closed behind you, this is so that young children leaving our care to go home are kept safe, thank you.

Soon it is playscheme again!
We will be open during this May Half Term week on Tue 26th & Wed 27th at the Newtown Branch and here at the Kingsnorth Rd Branch we are open Thurs 28th May. We are closed on the Bank Holiday Monday and on the Friday 29th May. Please note term time Cherrytree Nursery will resume again the week commencing 1st June.

We have been very busy so far this term, we have planted "grass-heads" and runner beans, some of which have made their way home for you to help look after. The children have learnt what they need to grow and hopefully will share this with you!
There were some great building skills using a variety of bricks and blocks, particularly to keep the animals safe!
We have used tapes and rulers to measure the babies as part of our "growing me" theme and practiced brushing teeth and talking about healthy eating for our "healthy lifestyle". They were all very good at deciding which foods are good for us, which are not healthy and which foods we can have a little of as a treat.
