Smisby Day Nursery Ltd Set in over half an acre of land in a quiet village location close to Ashby de la Zouch. The Holiday Clubs run in line with Leicestershire schools.

Smisby Day Nursery is contained in the original village school building built in 1900. Nicknamed "The Sunshine School" for its large south-facing classrooms it is a purpose built building full of character and charm. The school was closed in 1984 as there were less than five children attending the school. It was used for a variety of uses, including an auction house, until it fell into disrepair.

It was restored to its former glory by the founder of the Nursery in 1990 and opened its doors to the sound of children once more. Set in over half an acre of land in a quiet village location close to Ashby de la Zouch, Smisby Day Nursery has a large south-facing garden and secure play area with views over open countryside to the rear, and a secure drop off and collection point at the front, with ample parking. The Nursery offers the following facilities:

A 9 place Baby Nursery
A 14 place Toddler Room
A 27 place pre-school Room
A 32 place Before and After School Club
A 32 place School Holidays Scheme. The Out of School club and the Holiday Club operate from a purpose built annexe behind the Nursery. The holiday scheme offers full and half-day care during ALL the school holidays. Local trips and walks around the village and up to the play park are a regular part of the routine and parents are asked to sign a consent form allowing their children to take part in these activities. We are open from 8 AM until 6 PM Monday to Friday throughout the year. The nursery is closed on all bank holidays and also between Christmas and New Year, including Christmas Eve. A number of early admission places are available from 07:45 each morning but these are limited. Security
To enable us to keep the children secure, but also allow free access to parents and nominated persons, we give parents the key code for the main door. If someone else is collecting your child in an emergency please do not give them the code. Notify the nursery of the arrival of this person and please ensure that they bring some clear identification with them for verification. This will allow the staff to check before allowing your child to leave the premises. We are sure you appreciate our caution in this matter as we will only hand over your child if we are sure that the person collecting them is both the right person and authorised to do so. Staff are trained to be aware of strangers. New parents coming into the Nursery may be approached by staff who do not recognise them and guided to their child’s base room until another member of staff identifies the parent. We ask you to be patient with us and not to take offence if you are approached. We only do this for the safety and security of the children. All other visitors to the Nursery are signed in and accompanied at all times by a member of staff.

Summer is here! (Well - the Summer Club Brochure is at least!)

Ladies and gentlemen, we have the holiday club brochure, (link below), which has been emailed to all our registered parents today.

For registered parents you will know that there is a limit of 32 spaces per day. For parents new to us you will have to get the completed booking form back to us as soon as possible, with the deposit, so that we can get all the paperwork out to you for completion before we put the booking on the system.

We look forwards to seeing all the children have a fabulous time with us.

What a lovely start to the Easter weekend here at Smisby Day Nursery Ltd. We had a visit from these cute lambs who are only a few days old and an easter bunny who delighted the children with bubbles and fun.

✨ Fab February & Mad March at Our Nursery ✨

What a wonderful couple of months we’ve had! The children have been busy celebrating and learning about cultures and traditions from around the world, including Chinese New Year, Pancake Day, Holi, St David’s Day, World Book Day, Eid and St Patrick’s Day - just to name a few! 🌍🎉

Come rain or shine, we love getting outdoors and making the most of our beautiful village surroundings. Our forest school sessions are packed with hands-on learning, exploration and opportunities to build confidence and independence in nature. From spotting wildlife and visiting local farm animals to brightening up our community with a cheerful Daffodil Doddle, every day is an adventure full of discovery 🌼🐑

Looking ahead, our Smiz Kids Easter Holiday Club is shaping up to be lots of fun. Week One is almost fully booked with just a couple of spaces remaining! 🐣
