In Geography, Class 2 have been looking at maps of the local area.
Recently, we drew sketch maps of the school from aerial view and this week we put these into practice by using the 4 main compass points to travel around the playground.
We learnt the mnemonic Never Eat Shredded Wheat to remember the compass points and had great fun having a go at creating our own!

🌟🌟Ashby Hastings Hall Of Fame 28th August 2026🌟🌟

We have had an amazing first week back! It has been wonderful to see all the children settling back into their school routines and getting stuck into their learning with such enthusiasm.

During our Celebration Assembly on Friday, we were delighted to celebrate the children who received Star of the Week certificates, those who were spotted demonstrating our school’s core values, and all the children who took part in the Summer Reading Challenge.

A huge well done to everyone who made it onto our Hall of Fame — what a fantastic achievement!

Class 5’s Ancient Greek Day!
What an incredible day we had on Friday stepping back in time to Ancient Greece!
Class 5 looked absolutely amazing in their fantastic costumes, with gods and goddesses, warriors, philosophers… and even a Greek yoghurt!
Throughout the day, we became Ancient Greek historians, artists and storytellers. We:
📜 Created our own Ancient Greek timelines
🏛️ Explored what Ancient Greece has taught us and how it continues to inspire us today
⚔️ Designed and played our very own God and Goddess Top Trumps cards
🎨 Created beautiful Greek mosaics
🏺 Designed our own Greek vases
⚡ Invented our very own gods and goddesses, complete with their own unique special powers!
We finished the day with something that felt very Ancient Greek indeed… a real-life thunderstorm! ⛈️⚡
We’re convinced it was sent especially for us by our one and only Zeus! 👑⚡
What a fantastic day of learning, creativity, laughter and lots of Greek mythology!
