Forest School 🌳
Our Foundation Stage children had the best time in their first Forest School session this morning- "this is beautiful"🥰
They learnt how to keep safe in our fabulous outdoor area - "if its bigger than you, it takes two" and enjoyed exploring, making cupcakes, climbing and searching for conkers.

Our week......
The Swifts have had a busy week 🌟
In Read Write Inc they have been learning to recognise and write - m a s d t, and in Handwriting, they have been practising correct formation of these letters too.
The children have enjoyed assemblies, Big Moves with Mr Slaney, trying new learning activities in the classroom and have tried new fruits at fruit time too.
Our Wall of Fame has more proud children showing their Read to the Beat certificates, and children showing their special achievements of a swimming certificate and perseverance of learning to ride their bike 👏👏✨️
Today at storytime the children were excited to listen to Gruffalo Granny, after one of their classmates kindly brought in their brand new book in to class 📖

Our Key Stage 1 children have settled well and we are so proud of their ACE behaviour and all the ACE learning that is taking place across the Puffin, Nuthatch and Eagle Classes. Children are making new friends and getting used to the new routines. Well done Key Stage 1 children!

Today the children in Foundation Stage learnt that our new class name is The Swifts 🤗
They learnt facts about Swifts and were amazed to hear that these birds eat and sleep whilst still flying.
The children then decorated their own swift and added it to our new fabulous window display, which they had helped to paint too👏✨️
The window display also includes the childrens class groups - Bees, Butterflies, Dragonflies and Ladybirds.

Our Foundation Stage children have settled in to school life at Ashby C of E brilliantly ✨️ After part time sessions last week and our Open Day yesterday for the children to show their family around their classroom, today the children had their first full day at school🥰
They are quickly learning the routine of life at school and enjoying making new friends and learning new activities.
Today the children met Fred the frog in their first Read Write Inc lesson, looking at the sounds and picture cards for m a s d t and i. 🐸🌟

!!Year 6 Leavers Service 2026!!

Today we celebrated one of the absolute highlights in our school calendar. Our Year 6 children performed at Holy Trinity Church, entertaining us with the T-shirt parade, the rumble, the ‘Most Likely To…’ awards and an incredible guitar solo 🎸
Thank you Year 6 for being such wonderful role models in our school. We wish you the very best for the future, and we will miss you very much!
Thank you to Mr Watts, Mrs Burrows and all the adults who have make this celebration so enjoyable 🎉

Foundation Stage Leavers Event 2026 🫶🌟

This afternoon we held our first ever F.S Leavers event, to celebrate the children and thank our parents for the support given throughout their childs first year at Ashby C of E 🤗
The children had chosen favourite songs - Buzzy Bee & 12345 Once I Caught a Fish Alive and a poem - Love You To The Moon which they performed to their family.
They were then presented with stars, which thanked them for being a superstar, and each star had a special word that described them by their Teachers 🌟
The children also had the opportunity to tell us about their favourite time in school 😄
We also said a sad farewell to members of our F.S team who are moving to Year 1 with the children, and presented them with their own star too 🥰
Our event ended with the children singing "One More Step Along The Way I Go" 🥲🎶😍
Our parents recieved their childs work books wrapped with their little artists Matisse inspired snail picture 👨‍🎨🎨👩‍🎨🐌
