Welcome to my Ashburton Piano lesson’s page!
My name is Sarah MacAlpine. I am an experienced and qualified piano teacher (dipABRSM, dipPTC, B.Ed) with many years of teaching experience. Please read on if you’re interested in piano lessons for either yourself or your child. Please feel free to message me if you have any further enquiries.
What approach do I use?
I use a multi-sensory approach and incorporate all of the following into my lessons to develop rounded musicians:
listening, singing, moving, learning by rote, sight-reading, playing by ear, improvisation, composition, memorisation skills and theory.
How about practising?
I teach my pupils practise strategies to help them practise independently and effectively, providing rewards to motivate them and helpful tips for parents on how to support their child at home.
Will my child have performance opportunities?
I provide performance opportunities for all pupils throughout the year. For my pupils learning at Ashburton Primary School there are opportunities to play to friends, in assemblies , Christmas concerts and fir all pupils at the annual Spring Concert in St. Lawrence’s chapel. I provide continuous guidance to overcoming performance anxiety which helps to make playing in front of others an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
Where and when are lessons available?
Private lessons are available during the school day for children at Ashburton Primary School. For older students and adults, lessons are available at my home studio and online. My lessons are fun and engaging, my curriculum progressive and tailor made to the individual needs from beginners to advanced players. Exams are optional.
