Walberton Pre-School

Walberton Pre-School FUN, FRIENDSHIP & LEARNING FOR ALL CHILDREN AGED 2-5 YEARS. Find us in Walberton Village Hall! Childcare Vouchers accepted.

Our experienced, caring, friendly and qualified staff will treat your child as an individual and support you both to make those important first steps towards independence and ‘big school’. We have close professional links with all the local primary schools, as well as experience in working with children with additional needs. We have 2 classrooms in Walberton Village Hall, both with secure outdoor

play areas; Our small, cosy ‘Robins’ class, for 2 and 3 year old children provides your child with the security that they need, & the confidence that you need. Our bigger ‘Owls’ class for 3 and 4 year old children allows children to reach their potential and is a stepping stone towards moving on to Primary School. Government Funding available for 3 year olds and eligible 2 year olds. Contact Helen Baxter (01243 555922) or Mandy Foulds (01243 554979).

Today is the 80th Anniversary of VE Day.
It was a privilege for us Purple Ladies to join the Village ceremony before Pre-School opened this morning.
Later, at Circle Time, we talked with the children about our flag and the shapes and colours in it. Then we went out to see the new flag flying outside, which some of the children had noticed when they arrived.
Our snack time had a Street Party theme, with bunting and 1940s music playing. We had a special treat too - as part of our current ‘minibeasts’ learning, we made and ate honey sandwiches.
And then, at lunchtime, we listened to the radio and observed the national two minute silence - yes, really, all of our children remained in complete silence for the whole two minutes. I was so proud of them, I confess, I had a tear in my eye...

Spring has sprung - and we have updated our notice board with the children’s latest creation. At opening time this morning, one little boy proudly announced, “I did that!”. It’s the result of a weeks work for the children - those eggboxes are tricky to paint...
Look out for it if you’re visiting the Village Hall for the Gardeners Club Spring Show on Saturday.

To Celebrate Lunar New Year, we made a Chinese Dragon...
We started with wallpaper, folded in half lengthways. Then we squirted drops of paint onto the paper. The children used their eyes but not their hands at this stage... then their patience was rewarded when we folded the paper and pressed.... lots of little hands enjoyed feeling the paint squish under their touch. Then it was time for The Big Reveal! It looked amazing!!
We left it to dry over the weekend and today the children have helped to cut it out, and decorated it with tassels and added 2 eyes and lots of teeth!
