🧤🌿 Rubbish Ramble: Little Efforts, Big Difference! 💚

Yesterdays Rubbish Ramble took me along Doncaster Road and Church Street, but I couldn't pass the memorial benches by the bus stop without stopping for a little litter pick there too!

Once I'd cleared the rubbish, I had a good look around and thought, you know what, this spot could do with a little extra TLC! 🌱

So, off I popped to the Community Centre to borrow a garden brush. A bit of weeding, a good sweep, and… what a difference! ✨ The benches are looking lovely again.

It didn't take much time out of my Rubbish Ramble, but that little bit of extra effort made a real difference to a shared space that people use every day.
That's what community means, it's not always about big projects or grand gestures. Sometimes it's simply noticing something that needs a bit of care and thinking, I can do that!

A little pick, a quick sweep, pulling up a few weeds or brightening up a shared space. Small things might not seem like much on their own, but they all add up!

Do Good. Feel Good. Share the Good.

Because Armthorpe is a great village — and it's the little things we do for one another that help make it that way.

🧤💚 Today's Rubbish Ramble — A Village Full of Good People! 🌿

Another Rubbish Ramble, another fair few bags collected around our village!
But do you know what made today's wander extra lovely?
The people! 🥰
I met so many lovely folk who stopped for a chat and told me about their own litter-picking adventures around Armthorpe. Some are out regularly, quietly doing their bit to keep our village looking its best.
And honestly, it's wonderful to hear! 💚
Sometimes, when you're out collecting bag after bag, it's easy to focus on the rubbish. But today was a lovely reminder that there are so many people who genuinely care about where we live.
And that's what I want Bitter About Litter to be about. Bitter might be in the name but the project is certainly more about celebrating the positive side! Not moaning about the mess, pointing fingers or dwelling on the negatives but sharing the good been doing around that you might not necessarily know about!
And who knows? When someone sees you doing something positive, it might just encourage them to do something positive too. That's how little actions spread, how communities grow stronger and how we make our village an even better place to live.
So, to everyone quietly doing their bit around Armthorpe — whether I've met you on a Rubbish Ramble or not, thank you! 💚
Keep doing good. Keep inspiring others. And let's keep celebrating all the wonderful things happening in our village.
Because Armthorpe is a great village — and it's the people who care that help make it that way. 🥰🌿

🌿💚 Motivation Monday — Why do YOU litter pick?

Maybe you love where you live and want to look after it. 🏡💚
Maybe you enjoy being outside and appreciate the wildlife, trees and green spaces around us. 🌳🐦
Maybe it's about community — knowing that your little bit of effort makes somewhere better for everyone. 🤝
Maybe you just really, REALLY can't walk past a crisp packet without thinking…
“Oh for goodness sake, I'll get that.” 😂🧤
Or perhaps you're simply sick of seeing the mess and decided you'd rather do something about it than walk past.
Whatever your reason…
You're doing good.
And you don't need to become a full-time litter-picking machine either!
One bottle.
One wrapper.
Ten minutes on a dog walk.
A little wander with a bag.
It all counts.

🧤🌿 Weekend Wanders
The weekend is for wandering… so naturally, mine involved rubbish bags! 😂🗑️
This weekend's Weekend Wanders took me through a bit of everything — residential streets, green spaces and the main roads, picking up all sorts along the way.
A few bags later… and I'm calling that a pretty good weekend. 💚

The Rubbish Ramble Timetable Has Gone A Bit Skew-Whiff….......
An unexpected and rather random favour came my way this week involving the school's football tournaments and a new skill to add to this wombles repertoire, so suddenly my carefully planned Take Action Tuesday became Take Action Thursday…
And it looks like Motivation Monday might be making an appearance on Friday! 🤦‍♀️😂
I am, quite frankly, flying by the seat of my my pants.
But worry not…
There is one thing that remains reassuringly predictable, I cannot go very long without a Rubbish Ramble. 🧤😂
So while the days might be all over the place, the rubbish is still being tackled!
I've managed to squeeze in Mere Lane, Elm Road, Paxton Avenue and Shaw Wood this week, trying to claw back the bag count after a slightly chaotic start. 🗑️🌿
Because sometimes plans change, timetables get shuffled and life gets in the way…...but the little things still get done.
One pick.
One bag.
One area at a time.
And eventually we'll get there. 💚
So don't worry if your week hasn't gone quite according to plan either.
Just keep going, do what you can, when you can…
…and if all else fails, go for a Rubbish Ramble. 😉🧤

🌿💚 Monday Motivation — A New Week, A Fresh Start

Last week I collected quite a few bags of litter so now I'm wondering…
How many will there be this week?
Hopefully, the answer will be a lot fewer! 🙌
Because every bag I collect is a reminder that we can make a difference — but imagine if we all did our bit to stop those bags being needed in the first place.
So this week, let's look after our village. 💚
Take your rubbish home if there's no bin nearby.
Use the bins we do have.
And if you see a bin… please actually put your rubbish in it.
It really is that simple.
Let's see if we can make this week's tally a little smaller. 🌿
Look after the place you call home.
