Managed to squeeze in a little litter pick before the heavens decided it was time to join in today!
A quick wander, a few bits picked up and job done just in time. 🌿
Now the rain is absolutely hammering down, so today's Rubbish Ramble is officially on hold until things dry up a tad. ☔️😂
No complaints though — the gardens will be happy and I'll happily swap my litter picker for a cuppa for a little while! ☕️💚
The rubbish isn't going anywhere. The rain can have this one. 😉

Today's Rubbish Ramble came with a very helpful assistant… 😂🧤
Meet Max, the litter picking pooch!🐶💚
While out walking, Max likes to dash into the undergrowth, find the plastic bottles hiding away and proudly bring them back to be popped in the red bag.
A four-legged litter picker with a very important job!
Good boy, Max! 🐾👏
It's lovely seeing all the different ways people — and apparently dogs! — are helping to look after our village.

🪶 A Rubbish Ramble, with a little bit of Wonder
On one of our recent Rubbish Rambles, I found this beautiful feather on Pit Top. 🪶💙
Instead of just picking it up, taking a photo and moving on, The Littlest Litter Picker and I decided to take a little time to really notice it.
So today we got out the watercolours and had a go at painting what we'd found. 🎨🌿
Because while we're out taking care of the environment, we want to remember to notice and appreciate the wonderful things we're taking care of too. 💚
And we rather enjoyed our little nature journal experiment!
Thank you Armthorpe LaMs for the idea to get creative today!

What do you think? Would you try this on your next walk or Rubbish Ramble?
If you do, we'd LOVE to see what you discover and create. 🪶🎨

🌿 WONDER WEDNESDAY — Nature Detectives 🔎

I was out on a Rubbish Ramble on Pit Top when I spotted this little beauty. 🪶
Now, I could have walked straight past it but im taking the time to notice the little things around the village lately …
Look at those colours! 💙🖤
It got me wondering…
WHO LEFT THIS BEHIND? 🤔
So, today is the first Wonder Wednesday: Nature Detectives case!
🔎 Your mission: Have a really good look at the feather and choose who you think it belongs to from the pictures.
And here's your clue…
💙 This bird has a slight blue flash when it flies.
Have you got a theory?
Pop your guess number in the comments! 👇
No Googling, detectives! 😂 Let's see how many eagle-eyed nature spotters we have in Armthorpe.

And remember, you don't need to go anywhere special to find something wonderful.
Sometimes you just need to slow down, look closely and notice what's already there. 🌿
CASE FILE: OPEN. 🕵️‍♀️🪶
We'll reveal the answer next Wednesday!

Volume up🔊
Maybe I am a little bit crazy (or so a few passerby comments have been said the last few days) 😂
Apparently, picking up rubbish that isn't mine is........weird.
But I'd rather be the looney lady who picks up a bit of rubbish than the person who walks past it thinking, “Someone else will sort that.”
So… Village Crazy Lady it is. 🧤💚
And if caring is weird, I think the planet could do with a few more weirdos around .

Tonight's Rubbish Ramble Report 🧤😂

Well… that was an eclectic little collection.
Two nO2 cans, plenty of the usual suspects and, because apparently dinner was no longer required, half a kebab abandoned on the floor. 🌯
You really never quite know what you're going to find on a litter pick.
One minute you're picking up a drinks can, the next you're wondering what happened to someone's takeaway plans!
Anyway, another full bag later and Doncaster Road and the little lane up to Pit Top is looking happier. 💚
Another day's rubbish, another little bit of village pride. 🌿

💚 Little Litter Picker, Big Difference

A quick pick of Barton Lane with the villages Littlest Litter Picker today! 🧤🌿
One small pair of hands, one big heart and one full bag later… 👏
Well done once again, Littlest Litter Picker. 👑🧤
Armthorpe is a great village — and we're all part of what makes it great.

📸 Wonderful Things in Our Village

I get sent a lot of photos of litter (a lot!)
And while those are important too, lately I've been thinking…
What about all the things that make us smile? 💚
The sunrise on your morning dog walk. 🌅
A beautiful tree you've never really noticed before. 🌳
Wildflowers growing in an unexpected corner. 🌼
A garden someone has lovingly planted. 🌿
A little patch of the village looking particularly lovely.
A bit of community pride that made you stop and look twice. ❤️
So I'm starting something new…
🌿 WONDERFUL THINGS IN OUR VILLAGE 🌿
Look out for the lovely things as you're going about your day.
You don't need to pick up a single piece of litter.
You don't need a fancy camera.
You don't even need to go looking for anything.
Just notice. 📸
If you spot something beautiful, interesting, funny, inspiring or simply very Armthorpe, take a photo and send it in.
I'll be sharing some of your photographs here, with a little credit to the person who spotted it.
Because looking after where we live isn't just about removing what's unwanted.
It's also about noticing what's wonderful. 💚
So… what have you spotted lately?
📸 Send your photos this way — I'd love to showcase them.
Let's fill this page with the things that make Armthorpe a great village. 🌿❤️

A little Monday reminder… 💚
There are always things we could grumble about.
But there are also trees to walk past, fresh air to breathe, neighbours to say hello to and little corners of our village that are worth looking after.
So here's to noticing the good stuff this week. 🌿☀️
Armthorpe is a great village.
Let’s start the week remembering that. 💚

This week’s Mere Lane litter pick came with an interesting little plot twist…......
Hardly a sweet wrapper to be found — so perhaps the crisp-and-chocolate brigade are keeping their wrappers in their pockets or using 1 of the 5 bins along that stretch 👏

Instead, the big characters this time were:
🍻 Alcohol cans — lots of them, plenty to be recycled.
🍾 Heavy glass bottles — enough to give a litter picker a workout!

It’s always interesting to see how the litter changes depending on the time of year and what’s happening around the village.
No two rubbish rambles are quite the same… although I could probably do without the collection of mystery bottles. 😂
Mere Lane: tidied.
Recycling: separated.
Mystery of where all the sweet wrappers went: unsolved. 🔎
