Pupils from our school recently attended the Edmund Rice Student Leadership Conference at the St Comgall’s Centre, Belfast. To begin the day, they took part in a mock juvenile court and were dramatically found GUILTY of living out the Edmund Rice tradition in their school! Fortunately, the charges against them reflected the many positive ways they embody the values of Edmund Rice each day.
Our pupils delivered an excellent presentation, confidently sharing how faith, leadership, partnership and service are brought to life within our school community. They highlighted initiatives such as daily prayer and reflection, School Council activities that give pupils a voice, paired reading programmes that strengthen friendships and learning, and charitable projects supporting local and global communities. They also spoke about caring for others through visits to nursing homes, fundraising for worthwhile causes, and promoting respect and inclusion for all through events such as Odd Sock Day. These examples demonstrated their commitment to creating a caring school community and inspiring positive change.
They were joined by pupils from eight other Edmund Rice schools from across the North and engaged in meaningful discussions about how, as a network, they can continue to strengthen and promote the Edmund Rice vision in their schools and communities.
The day provided a wonderful opportunity to share ideas, celebrate success and develop the next generation of leaders inspired by the Edmund Rice Charter.
