School Council Asha Donation
Today we were pleased to welcome Miss Rhianna Gillespie from RSA to school to receive a cheque for £230 which our School Council raised through various activities in February this year for the Asha charity. Asha is a charity which helps those living in poverty in India. Earlier this year Rihanna came into school and told us about her trip there last summer. The School Council really appreciated Rhianna’s kindness as she gave them all donuts, drinks, sweets and crisps to thank them for their efforts but most of all we hope the money will help those in greatest need!

Bag it, Bin it!
P2 have been studying their local area as part of their learning. During their work, they noticed a large amount of dog fouling near their school and local play park. As a result, they created a video to promote the ‘Bag It, Bin It’ campaign, hoping to raise awareness and encourage dog owners to clean up after their pets. We hope this video will send a positive message to the community about the importance of being responsible dog owners and helping to keep local areas clean, safe and pleasant for everyone.

Toilet Twinning Update
The Eco-school Action Team and School Council met today to finalise our Spend A Penny Week money. We had raised £85 and so with a little bit of help from our school funds we were able to twin 2 toilets. The children decided to twin a toilet in Nepal and one in Pakistan. It's lovely to think that somewhere in these countries there will be a plague showing that the children of Mountnorris Primary School purchased a safe, clean, sanitary area for people to use. Well done to the Mountnorris Primary School Community for reaching out to others! (If you didn't support our efforts and would still like to- just place a donation in an envelope marked toilet twinning and send to the office- maybe we could twin in another country!!!)

Climate Ready Classroom Award Ceremony
Today 2nd June Talitha and Adam from P7 represented our school in accepting the Climate Ready Classroom Award on behalf of P6 & P7. The ceremony was held at the Lough Neagh Discovery Centre and was attended by many schools who were receiving their Eco Schools Green Flag. We were the only school who were receiving their Climate Ready Classroom Award. Talitha and Adam did us all proud and we should feel honoured that we are 1 of only 14 schools who have ever received this award which is new to Northern Ireland. We are the only school in County Armagh to have received this award so far! Go Mountnorris! After that Adam and Talitha got a wee treat in MacDonalds. We think they deserved it! Well done!

Sports Day 2026
After all the rain - God sent the sun so that we could enjoy our sports day. It really was a great morning. Thank you to all the parents and extended family who came to cheer on their kids. Your support is appreciated. Well done to our PSG who provided some tasty snacks! I believe the bacon baps went down a treat. Also thank you to Hunters Supermarket who kindly donated drinks and ice pops for all the pupils. It’s great to have the support of local businesses. Last of all thank you to all the pupils who tried their best and gave their all. Win or lose you did your best and we hope you made some great memories!

P4 Gardening
P3 and P4 planted marigolds a while back so today was the day that we transplanted them outside into pots. Later we’ll add some plants that P5 and P6 have grown. Thank you too to gardening club members who decorated the pots. A whole school effort indeed.
