P1’s Farming Fun at Foley

P1’s Farming Fun at Foley
On Thursday, the boys and girls of Foley were treated to a special visit from Corbally Fun Farm, and we had some very brave Primary 1 children in deed. They couldn’t wait to explore the different animals and even get to hold some of them. To top an amazing morning off, Harry’s Ices ice cream van pulled up at the school with ice cream and slush puppies for all the children.

A fantastic day was had by all as the petting zoo came to Foley. Some very familiar and some very unusual creatures kept us fascinated and they were all so friendly too. To top it off the ice cream arrived as did the sun!

We had a very busy day harvesting the crops which we planted during term 3 last year. Our plan is to clean, cook and eat our produce, completing the farm to fork process! Thank you to Ballymacnab Live Here Love Here for helping us to get started on this eco journey.

We had a very exciting morning in school today. The boys and girls were delighted to welcome Michelle McArdle and Louise McCone into Foley PS.

Shelly and Louise came into Foley to see the children before they take on Wexford in the All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie final, in Croke Park on Sunday. It was great to see everyone decked out in full orange and white colours in support of our local stars.

The girls spoke to the older children about what it takes to make it at the highest level of their sport by training, eating healthy, the discipline it takes and sacrifices they make. The children spoke about their hopes of playing for Armagh one day and going to Croke Park on Sunday to cheer on the girls.

On behalf of everyone in Foley Primary School we wish the Armagh senior camogie team the very best of luck on Sunday and an extra special good luck to our past pupils who are part of the squad - Laura Smyth, Louise McCone, Eimear Smyth and Michelle McArdle.

Bring home the cup Girls!

Come on Armagh!🟠⚪️

On behalf of all staff at Foley, we would like to wish them all the best for next year and the years to come and it was a pleasure to have been a part of their learning experience. The P1 children entered a colouring competition supported by the Ulster Farmers’ Union and the Bank of Ireland. Today, the children received a beautiful certificate for their participation and some seeds for planting herbs as well. There were over 7000 entries and the standard was extremely high but the P1 children did really well. Great job, girls and boys. 🏅

It’s getting near that time again when we are preparing for the end of another school year. As time moves on, so to do our children, and this year we are saying goodbye to a fantastic bunch of Primary 7 children. Throughout two very disrupted years of school these boys and girls have continued to learn new skills, adapt to new challenges, mature as individuals, develop as a group and overcome anything in their path. Just like the parents of the Primary 7 children, we are extremely proud of everyone of them, for all that they have achieved in our school.

Unfortunately due to COVID it is difficult to give the children the traditional send off that they deserve. However, over the next few weeks we have a few surprises in line for the boys and girls and we will do our best to make their last few weeks in Foley very memorable!!

To give you a chance to meet these brilliant children we will be posting a few pen-pic style, meet and greets over the coming days!

It is with great pleasure that I introduce the first of our Primary 7 Children-Micheala, Katie and Lauren

The children of Primary 6 & 7 had the fantastic opportunity yesterday to partake in a STEM workshop which had been rescheduled due to lockdown. We welcomed David from the Sentinus company into our classroom to help develop our understanding of bridges and structures and we became engineers for the day! The children worked exceptionally well together and shared roles to used rolled up pieces of paper to create a structurally sound bridge. Their team work was excellent and they created some amazing designs which we when tested between chairs to see how much they could hold.
