Standalone Farm!

Gosh I haven’t posted any adventures on here for a while but we have definitely been enjoying the warm weather & summer holidays!

Last week we took a little morning trip to Standalone Farm and alongside the animals we were all very pleasantly surprised to come across a Maize Maze!

I was a bit worried before we went in that we might never make it back out 😝 but we did it!

It was also really lovely for the children to see sweetcorn growing from the ground. We looked at the tall plants and could even see sweetcorn cobs on some of them. The children were really engaged looking for each one and talking about their height & colour too!

A wonderful addition to the farm and it was very much enjoyed 🙂

It's literally so full you can find something to entertain everyone - from Dodgeball to Tennis, to Tag Rugby to Short Mat Bowls...there's even a picnic to boot!

💦 ☀️ Splash Park ☀️ 💦

The warmer weather is so welcome on a gorgeous Friday morning! 🙌🏻

I’ve been very lucky to have a student on work experience for me for 1 week and this has allowed an extra pair of hands to get out and about with such a young cohort. 🫶🏼

To enjoy the end of a lovely week we went to Letchworth Splash park!
My two older girls really enjoyed this and spent so much time stomping and splashing through the water.
(One of my older girls was with me last year and wasn’t as keen on the water then so it was wonderful to watch her confidence and happiness.) ♥️
It was also the first time taking my youngest and she enjoyed sitting by the shoreline dipping her feet in and touching the water in her own time.

A wonderful way to end the week!

🌳 Baulk Wood 🌳

I haven’t been here in quite some time & the last time I came I did a route that was very short and I felt I had missed something?

However, this time I went with 2 other childminders, in the know, and they took us round a lovely wooded circular trail!
It was lovely and perfect for little legs to walk, run and explore! 🙌🏻

The children found sticks, leaves, dens and we even had a go at crayon rubbing as we spotted letters on our way round.

It was a really lovely visit, with great company.
Looking forward to going back again 🙂

📦 Mystery Box 📦

A left over Amazon box made a great base to hide some of the household toys.
Inside the box I layered it with a foil blanket and then filled with random toys from around the house.

The children (amazingly) didn’t notice or go near it at first when it was closed….but when they realised they could explore they spent time going through it to see what the could find.

Items included blocks, a scarf, hat, cars etc

The two girls enjoyed this lots and started to use the blocks to make a tower.

As for an adult, mum and childminder it was great for tidy up time as it all just got chucked back in there 😝 win win! 🙌🏻

✈️ Shuttleworth ✈️

A lovely trip to Shuttleworth this week to mark the fist day back for a few children and the last day off for my own two.

The sun was shining so the kids all got to run around on the green area, playing football and seeing planes up close before they took off into the sky! ☀️ ✈️ 🤩

Inside we walked around all the hangers looking at all the different planes, engines & vehicles from many years gone by.x
Always a nice morning and always sparks conversation with the older kids 🫶🏼
