There were lots of smiling faces as our new Year 8s enjoyed their first day at St Benedict’s, getting to know their new surroundings, meeting new people and settling into a brand-new routine. 😊

It was great to see everyone getting stuck in and embracing life at St Benedict’s — and what better way to finish off Friday than with a delicious ice cream! 🍦😋

💙 💛Welcome to the St Benedict’s Family! 💙💛

Today was a very special day at St Benedict’s as we welcomed our wonderful new Year 8 pupils through our doors and officially into the St Benedict’s family.

From the moment they arrived, there were smiling faces, immaculate uniforms and a real sense of excitement as they began this important new chapter together. We have to say - they looked absolutely exceptional! 👏

Our Year 8 pupils met their Form Teachers, their Head of Year, Mrs Hogarty, and our Principal, Ms Loughran, before coming together for a special welcome assembly and ceremony to mark the beginning of their journey with us.

The rest of the day was filled with activities, new friendships, plenty of laughter and lots of opportunities to become familiar with their new school.

And, of course, we captured plenty of photographs along the way! 📸 We can’t wait to share more of these special moments with our families over the coming days.

At St Benedict’s, we are more than a school - we are a family and a community, where every young person is known, valued and encouraged to flourish.

GUIDANCE ON THE USE OF MOBILE PHONES IN SCHOOLS. 📱

Parents and carers are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the Department of Education guidance regarding pupils’ personal use of mobile phones and similar devices during the school day.

The guidance highlights the importance of limiting mobile phone use in school to help pupils concentrate, engage fully in learning and enjoy positive social interaction throughout the school day, including at break and lunchtime.

We would encourage all parents and carers to take a few minutes to read the guidance and discuss the expectations around responsible mobile phone use with their child.

📣 Support available for families as new school year begins

The EA is reminding parents and carers that help and information is available as schools across Northern Ireland prepare to welcome pupils back for the new academic year.

A number of dedicated helplines are in place and further information and details of support are available through the EA website and social media channels. This covers a range of areas, including special educational needs (SEN), school transport, free school meals, uniform grants and admissions.

Tomorrow is the big day… and we can’t wait to meet you! 🌟

Tomorrow, Friday 28th August, we’ll be welcoming our new Year 8 pupils and their families through the doors of St Benedict’s College as they begin an exciting new chapter with us.

There may be a few butterflies — from pupils and parents! 😊 — but you can expect lots of smiles, new friendships and plenty of friendly faces ready to help you settle in.

Pupils: Arrive from 9:00am and stay with us until 3:25pm. They must wear full school uniform and as our canteen isn't operational until September, they must bring a packed lunch.

Parents: You’ll be with us until 11:00am — and we’ll have the tea and coffee ready! ☕

To our newest pupils: enjoy your evening, get a good night’s sleep and come through those doors tomorrow knowing that a very warm St Benedict’s welcome is waiting for you.

A huge thank you to Anne Marie McCloskey from SENIAM – Special Educational Needs & Inclusion for giving up her time to work with our staff as part of our SEN FOCUS.

It was a really valuable opportunity for our staff to develop their understanding of Special Educational Needs and to reflect on how we can continue to make our classrooms as inclusive and supportive as possible for every young person.

Anne Marie’s knowledge, experience and practical insight gave us plenty to think about and, importantly, strategies that can make a real difference in the classroom.

Thank you, Anne Marie, for sharing your time and expertise with us — we really appreciate it! 👏

We’re delighted to welcome our Year 12 Student Leadership Team back to school tomorrow as they officially begin their new roles.

The team will take part in leadership training, prepare for the responsibilities ahead and set their goals and priorities for the year.

We’re looking forward to working with them as they lead, represent and inspire our school community throughout the year ahead.

🌟 Celebrating Our Top GCSE Performers 🌟

Following on from our celebration of this year’s fantastic GCSE results, we are delighted to recognise our top-performing girl and boy in the Class of 2026.

Pati Kmiecik achieved an exceptional 10 GCSEs – 3 A*, 5 A, 1 B and 2 C*.

Miron Pudlo also achieved an outstanding 10 GCSEs – 2 A*, 6 A, 1 B and 1 C*.

These superb results reflect the hard work, commitment and determination both pupils have shown throughout their time at St. Benedict’s College.

We are delighted that both Pati and Miron will continue their educational journey by studying A-levels at our link Post-16 schools, and we wish them every success as they take this exciting next step. 💙💛

🎉 Celebrating GCSE Success at St Benedict’s College! 🎉

We are delighted to celebrate the fantastic achievements of our GCSE students at St Benedict’s College, Randalstown.

⭐ 99% of students achieved 5 or more A*- C grades.
⭐ 71% achieved 7 or more A*-C grades.

These excellent results reflect the effort, dedication and determination of our students, alongside the invaluable support and partnership of their parents and carers.

Principal, Ms Loughran, congratulated all students on their achievements and paid tribute to our dedicated staff, who work tirelessly to support and encourage every student to achieve their best.

We wish all our students every success as they take their next steps and look forward to celebrating their achievements again at our Senior Prizegiving.
