Another fantastic week of sport at Angmering!

Last week began with narrow defeats for our Year 7 and Year 9 football teams in closely contested fixtures against Steyning and Shoreham.

There was great success for our girls' football teams, with both the U14 and U16 squads securing back-to-back District League victories, with the Unders 14s Girls 7-0 victory the pick of the bunch. The U16 Netball team also continued their impressive form with a superb 40–19 win over Shoreham in which everyone contributed to the team's success.

In rugby, the Year 11 team finished the week with a victory over Shoreham, while the Year 8 Football team earned a well-deserved draw in an evenly matched District League fixture v Shoreham

Away from competition, we were delighted to host a well-attended Primary Basketball Festival, with EPJS emerging victorious, as well as this we also hosted the WSSA Year 3/4 Basketball Festival. These events provided valuable opportunities for young participants to develop their skills and enjoy competitive sport. A special thank you must go to our Sports Leaders, whose professionalism, enthusiasm and support played a key role in the success of both festivals.

Our lunchtime and after-school clubs continue to thrive with strong attendance numbers. Special mentions to the Yr7 Girls Netball club which has grown significantly in numbers

Finally a massive well done to every student who has represented The Angmering School this week. Your commitment, resilience, teamwork and sportsmanship are a credit to both yourselves and the school community. We look forward to another exciting week of sport ahead.

The Scholastic Book Fair is here!

Our Scholastic Book Fair starts today, helping us raise funds to bring even more brilliant books into our School Library.

Students can browse and choose from the books during break and lunchtime from Monday 5th to Thursday 8th October.

Parents and carers can purchase Book Fair gift vouchers in advance, giving students a simple way to choose and pay for their own books.

Year 7 families: The Book Fair will also be open during the Year 7 Flying Start evening on Wednesday 7th October, where parents will also be able to pay online using a QR code.

And every purchase helps our library! If we reach £350 in sales, the school can claim 25% back in free books - so you'll be helping us put even more books into the hands of our students. 💙

Someone enjoyed our Open Morning a little too much…

We had a fantastic first Open Morning today, welcoming lots of prospective families into The Angmering School to see us in action.

One particularly enthusiastic visitor even stayed behind to have another look through our prospectus… 👀😂

This little Peppa Pig was found outside school this morning after apparently falling from a car during drop-off. As she was handed in just before our Open Morning began, we think she may belong to the younger sibling of one of our students.

She’s safe and sound in Reception (and now very well informed about life at Angmering!), but we’d love to reunite her with her owner.

🏆 TEAM ANGMERING 🏆

We’re incredibly proud of the students who represent Angmering each week, whether competing as part of a school team, taking on individual challenges or getting involved in sporting opportunities across our community.

We’re introducing a new regular celebration of the fixtures, performances, achievements and brilliant moments from across Angmering Sport.

We’re kicking things off with a bumper look back at the last two weeks - and there’s already plenty to celebrate!

From fantastic results to brilliant teamwork, determination and sportsmanship, our students have been putting Ambition, Respect and Courage into action.

Here’s what we’ve been up to… 👇

The last two weeks have seen our first full weeks of fixtures, with students representing Angmering brilliantly across a range of sports.

Across 10 fixtures, Angmering have secured some impressive wins, demonstrating a strong start to the sporting calendar.

KS3 Highlights included a dominant 5-0 win for the Year 8 Football Team v Steyning, an excellent victory for the U14 Girls Football Team v DHS, and a 4-2 victory for the Year 7 Football Team against TLA in their first fixture for the school, making the result even more special.

The Year 9 Football Team has faced a challenging start to the season following promotion to the District Premiership, suffering two narrow defeats with a one goal margin against strong opposition. Despite the results, the squad continues to demonstrate outstanding dedication and commitment, regularly attracting over 25 students to training sessions each week. Their hard work and positive attitude have been a real credit to the school. A particular highlight was a highly competitive 1-0 defeat to DHS, last year's finalists, where the team showed great resilience and teamwork throughout.

With Upper school fixtures the Year 11 Netball Team has made a great start to the season, recording two wins and one loss from their opening three fixtures with 15+ students featuring

The U16 Girls Football Team has also started its season strongly, with one win and one loss v Steyning & St Oscar Romero however it has been particularly pleasing to see several students make their debuts and represent Angmering in competitive fixtures for the first time.

To round off a successful fortnight of fixtures, the U16 Rugby Team opened their season with a fantastic victory against St Oscar Romero, providing another positive result for Angmering sport.

Away from fixtures, participation in sport continues to grow at Angmering. Over the past two weeks on average there have been 280+ students engaged in Sport and PE through clubs, fixtures and sports leadership opportunities.

We were also delighted to welcome 179 primary school students who took part in the Angmering Mile, alongside 81 students who participated in the KS1 Half Mile event. Both events created a fantastic atmosphere and provided young people with an opportunity to enjoy physical activity, challenge themselves and celebrate their achievements.

A fantastic start to the sporting year, with students demonstrating commitment, teamwork and pride in representing Angmering.

Smartphones and social media are a huge part of growing up today - and navigating them as a parent or carer isn’t always easy.

Whether you’re wondering when the right time is for that first phone, concerned about the impact of social media, dealing with screen-time battles or simply want to feel better informed, Smartphone Free Childhood West Sussex is bringing together a panel of guest speakers for an evening of practical information, research and guidance.

We’re pleased to be hosting the event here at The Angmering School, with our Headteacher Simon Liley joining the panel of guest speakers.
