Music for students in Year 10 (current Year 9's) - next school year
==========================================

We will be running a Music course for students in Years10 and 11 which will be an extra qualification if they choose to follow the course.

The sessions will run each week after school on Tuesdays between 3pm and 4.15 in PA1. Students attending the course will be expected to attend every week - treating it just like another lesson.

We did not have enough students to run it within the main options but we are able to run the course as mentioned above. Students will also be expected to work on the course in their own time too - rehearsing / completing homework etc.

Please let me know if your son/daughter would like to take the course (as described in the option booklet)

Last Thursday, John Hanson Community staff and students put their uniforms to one side and came in their own clothes. This event was to raise funds for Help for Heroes and coincided with Armed forces day last weekend.

The charity was chosen through pupil voice. The Year 9, Armed Forces students, within our community met to discuss which charity they would like to support; they also created the poster which helped to advertise the event around school. We were thrilled to be able to donate £690 to Help for Heroes – which has suffered like so many charities because of a lack of fundraising opportunities. Thank you to everyone who paid their pound.

#NationalDayofReflection
The first National Day of Reflection is today. A day to reflect on our Nation’s loss. A day to think about our past year - the lows, the craziness, the spending time away from our loved ones, the not knowing what’s coming next. However, a time to reflect on what is special, who is special, what we have managed to live without, finding the little things in life which bring us happiness.
We will be observing the one minute silence at 12pm here at JH.
Remember to ‘shine a light’ this evening at 8pm. 💛
