John Hanson Community School will remain CLOSED on Friday 26th June due to continuing extreme weather conditions.

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.

Remote learning will continue – teachers will provide work via Satchel One

🌊 Important Water Safety Message 🌊

As we enjoy this warm weather, we want to remind everyone about the importance of water safety.

💧Cold water shock can affect even the strongest swimmers
💧 Currents and underwater hazards are often hidden
💧 Depths can change suddenly and unexpectedly

Water safety is important for children of all ages. Drowning is one of the main causes of accidental death in children, and in England these incidents have doubled over the last five years.

Andover Town Council are offering young people the exciting opportunity to access new activities over the summer holidays through the U-Choose card.

💳 The card is just £5 and offers students at John Hanson Community School and other participating schools the chance to book 2 activities for free at:

🔔 IMPORTANT UPDATE: School Closure 🔔

We will be closed to students on Wednesday 24 June and Thursday 25 June.

With temperatures forecast to reach 34°C from midday tomorrow, we must prioritise the wellbeing of students travelling to and from school in these extreme conditions.

This has not been an easy decision, and we know it may cause inconvenience for many families. However, after carefully reviewing all available information, we believe it is the right course of action.

We will keep Friday 26 June under review and update you as soon as possible.

📝 Year 10 pre-public exams and KS3 assessments will be rearranged – new dates to follow

Calling All Families - We Need Your Help!

Do you have school uniform or PE kit that your child has outgrown? We'd love to give it a new home!

We're collecting pre-loved uniform and PE kits from all year groups to support our school community and help reduce costs for families.

What we need:

School uniform items (blazers, jumpers, shirts, trousers, skirts)
PE kits (tops, shorts,)

When & Where: Please drop off any items you no longer need at Reception - we're collecting throughout the year!

Every donation helps another family and supports sustainability - thank you for your generosity!

📢 John Hanson Community School Opens Its Doors for Lettings Open Evening

Looking for a venue for sports, meetings, classes, clubs or community events? John Hanson Community School is inviting local groups, organisations and businesses to its Lettings Open Evening on Tuesday 9th June 2026 from 5pm to 7pm.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the wide range of facilities available to hire, including:

✅ Netball Courts
✅ Dance Studio
✅ Drama Room
✅ Main Hall
✅ Sports Hall
✅ 2G All-Weather AstroTurf Pitch
✅ Gym
✅ Classrooms
✅ Meeting Rooms

The open evening is a great chance to see the facilities first-hand, meet the team and discover how the spaces can support sports clubs, fitness classes, community groups, business meetings and special events.
