On the final assembly of 2025/2026, we have said goodbye not only to our Year 6s but also to one of the most caring and nurturing persons we know. Mrs B. is leaving on her well-deserved retirement. We wish her all the best on this new chapter in life! 💐

And to our Y6s? There are so many wonders in te world to discover, children; you just need to reach for them. Good luck in your new, big schools. We will miss you all! 🥹

Last week we celebrated our school's 60th birthday at its current site capturing the essence of our community. We pored over old photographs, architectural plans, and handwritten registers, tracing the journey of our school alongside our current students. Seeing so many families gathered for our picnic last Friday, with the children’s voices raised in song and the joy of country dancing under the protective boughs of our sacred, old Oak tree, created a memory we will all cherish.

History came to life in Appleshaw! First, our corridors were swarmed by angry Anglo-Saxons from Oak Class. Next, by some sort of magic, clocks went back and Thursday saw us invaded by ruthless Romans from Maple Class. Our KS2 children enjoyed very much hands-on history lessons, involving fighting, acting, knowledge research and crafting. What a time to be a pupil at Appleshaw!

Meet our fantastic Y5/6 netball team. Yet again they showed outstanding sportsmanship, wonderful attitude towards each other and the opponents, and presented some amazing game skills. This time it wasn't enough for the medal but we are still extremely proud of you! 💪🏐

What a day to hold our biennial Grow £1 market! From writing business plans to gathering supplies, advertising and finally- the sale. Our students demonstrated incredible creativity this year, offering a wide range of products and services: colouring competition, gaming zones, slushies and so much more! Well done to all our young entrepreneurs!

♻️️ how to recycle, reuse and reduce rubbish in our homes?
♻️️ how did Ghana come to turn tonnes of plastic into everyday use trash bags?
♻️ why is the ocean such an amazing place and what will happen if we don't take care of it?

These and many other questions have been answered this week during Great Big Green Week. Children across the school took part in multiple activities and lessons dedicated to saving our environment. And we really enjoyed our Wear Green end of the week! ✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️
