We were honoured to attend the South East Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Awards held in the beautiful grounds of Admiralty House at HM Naval Base Portsmouth on Wednesday 1 July.

Representing Sparsholt College Group, Principal and CEO, Julie Milburn and Andover College Assistant Principal (Sixth Form), Nikki Yates were proud to join fellow organisations in celebrating employers who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community through the Armed Forces Covenant to accept our Silver Award.

Congratulations to all the deserving Award recipients. It was a privilege to be part of such a special event, recognising the positive impact that employers across the South East continue to make for serving personnel, reservists, veterans, military families, and cadet force adult volunteers.

Move to Online Learning Wednesday 24th-Thursday 25th June

Due to the red weather warning declared by the Met Office for Andover this week, the College has reluctantly taken the decision to move learning online for Wednesday and Thursday.

This decision has been made to help keep students and staff safe during the period of exceptional heat and humidity forecast. We know this may be frustrating and that some of you will have planned to be on site this week, but your safety and wellbeing must remain our first priority.

Your teachers will let you know what you need to do for each lesson, including any online sessions, independent study tasks or work to complete. Please check your College email and Teams regularly and make sure you engage with the learning that has been set for you each day.

Please come in tomorrow for the UCAS event and early enrolment alongside any lessons which will continue. If you have a scheduled assessment tomorrow, Tuesday 23rd June, you should come into College as normal for that assessment.

Thank you for your understanding and for continuing to engage positively with your learning during this temporary move online.

Due to the Met Office red weather alert issued for Andover, the College has reluctantly taken the decision to postpone the Applicant Welcome Day which was scheduled to take place this Wednesday 24th June.

📅The new date for Applicant Welcome Day is Tuesday 7th July.

This has not been an easy decision. However, we cannot be certain that we would be able to keep all visitors, students and staff safe on the day. The safety and wellbeing of our College community must remain our first priority, and we believe that postponing this event is the only responsible course of action in the circumstances.

We are very sorry to have to postpone the event, as it is undoubtedly one of our favourite occasions in the College calendar. Applicant Welcome Day is a wonderful opportunity for prospective students to meet their peers, connect with future tutors, and gain a true sense of what college life is like.

Any additional details will be shared with applicants as soon as possible this week.

We’re proud to announce that Sparsholt College Group has been awarded the prestigious Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award, recognising our ongoing commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community. 🥈🎉

Presented by the Ministry of Defence, the Silver Award acknowledges organisations that go beyond their Armed Forces Covenant commitments to actively support reservists, veterans, cadet force adult volunteers, military families and service children.

As one of just 34 organisations across the South East to receive this recognition, we are honoured to be recognised for creating an inclusive, supportive environment where members of the Armed Forces community can thrive in both education and employment.

This achievement reflects the dedication of our staff across Sparsholt College and Andover College, and our commitment to ensuring military personnel, reservists, veterans, service children and their families feel valued, understood and supported.

A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to this important work. We look forward to officially accepting the award at the presentation ceremony in July.

💙 Miles of Memories raises over £345 for Simon Says 💙

Students and staff across Andover and Sparsholt College campuses recently came together to honour loved ones, celebrate cherished memories and raise vital funds for bereavement support charity Simon Says Child Bereavement Support

As part of our journey towards becoming a Champion College for Simon Says, we hosted Miles of Memories – a special fundraising event that invited participants to cycle a symbolic mile in memory of someone they had lost.

Those taking part wore a star bearing the name of their loved one before adding it to our beautiful Sky Full of Stars display. The result was a touching tribute that celebrated the lives of those no longer with us and reflected the kindness and compassion of our college community.

Liz Wilson, Director of Inclusion and Student Experience, said:

"Miles of Memories provided a meaningful opportunity for our college community to come together, remember those we have lost and support an important local charity. Bereavement affects many of our learners, and the event highlighted the importance of ensuring that young people have access to the support they need."

Thanks to the generosity of our students, staff and supporters, we have raised an amazing £345.05 and counting across both campuses.

A huge thank you to everyone who cycled, donated and shared their memories. Every mile, every star and every donation will help Simon Says continue providing vital support to children, young people and families across Hampshire.
