This activity is safe for them to put in their mouth too. You can encourage them to talk about what they are doing and about the different Mark's they are making

You will need:
Food colouring any colour you have
Your chosen yoghurt, plain or natural
A plate and a couple of spoons
Paper
Method:

Place several blobs of yoghurt on the plate. Add a couple of drops of your food colouring to each blob and mix in. Once it’s all mixed in it’s ready to use. Explore using your fingers and make different marks on the page. Encourage to draw shapes or even numbers and letters.

Moving like animals
This activity helps your child to explore their gross motor movements through jumping, stomping, hopping, running etc. you can help encourage their speech and language through encouraging them to name the animal and talk about how it moves. For example, a kangaroo hops up and down. This also helps to expand on their knowledge and understanding of the world by linking the different movements with the different animals around them. They will also find it very fun and entertaining when you join in too.
You will need:
A big space to move around in and imagination
Here are some examples
mouse
hen
duck
penguin
flamingos
butterfly
snake
crab
gorilla
kangaroo
frog
crocodile
elephant

Object drop:
This activity will help your little one to work on their hand and eye coordination through moving the objects. They are also learning cause and effect and learning how their actions can move objects around them. You can introduce them to shapes and comments on the shape of the objects which you are using and encourage them to comment too. This activity can be adaptable to suit your child and their age.
You will need:
An empty tissue box or box
Scissor
Objects to place in the box e.g. Cards or milk tops etc (not anything really small which could be a choking risk)
Method:
If you’re using milk bottle tops I would clean them thoroughly first and wait to dry. Next, remove the plastic from the top of the tissue box gently or cut a section where the objects can be posted through on the box. Now it’s ready to play, place the two parts in front of your child. Encourage them to pick the bottle top up and then drop it into the box. If they are unsure, show them how to let go of the object and it falling into the box. You can encourage them to take the objects in and out of the box.

The children have shown an interest in yoga. I was lucky enough to find a yoga book for children. We have been going through the book and finding what yoga poses we could do. The children especially like doing the downward dog as well as the cobra. We all got into the poses and made it more by making the animal sounds.

The children have loved singing the
sleeping bunnies song. We decided to link this to the
children’s current interest which is super worm. We
encourage them to think of which insects they
remember in the story and then we talked about how
they moved. Afterwards we adapted the song to the
insect they choose.

Gloop
This activity helps the child to explore their senses, they are also able to explore textures. Through asking questions you can encourage the child to talk about the different textures they can feel. For example heavy or light etc. You can also add colours to mix or different scents e.g peppermint, rosewater, vanilla etc. Don't worry if they put any of the gloop in their mouth it’s not harmful however it may not taste very nice.
Gloop:
You will need:
2 cups of cornflour
1 cup of water
Food colouring and/or flavouring
A big container
Method:
Once measured place the cornflour into the big container. Add your chosen colour or flavouring add a little bit into the cornflour. Then slowly add a bit of water and mix till you get a changeable consistency. (Solid but when picked up it turns runny). Then explore with fingers hand or feet.
