LittleTrees Childcare

LittleTrees Childcare I couldn't go back to being a teacher after I had my little boy, so I became a childminder. I now have three beautiful children. Andover

We have lots of lovely adventures together.... with a few other little lovelies, too 🥰 It really is such fun, I'm very lucky!

Exactly this 🥰 Our behaviour is up to us, their behaviour is down to us.

i’ll never understand people who expect toddlers to act older than they are.

you left your makeup out
and now you’re shocked they played with it…
after watching you use it every single day?

you left markers on the table
and can’t believe they colored the wall?

you left your drink on the edge of the couch
and somehow you’re surprised it spilled?

you handed them snacks in the car
and now you’re upset it ended up everywhere?

you took them into the store past nap time
and can’t believe they melted down?

toddlers aren’t tiny adults.
they don’t come with impulse control,
logic,
or the ability to pause and think first.
they learn by copying us,
touching everything,
and testing the world in the only way they know how.

they’re not trying to cause chaos
they’re trying to understand life.
their mistakes are just curiosity with tiny hands.
their messes are development,
their meltdowns are communication.

they’re not giving you a hard time
they’re having one.
and they need guidance, patience, and protection…
not frustration for being exactly who they’re supposed to be.

they’re just little humans
trying their best
in a world that still feels way too big for them.

Happy Mother's Day, all you lovely Mummies.
(and love to anyone upset, struggling, longing for, or missing someone today).
We had such fun this week talking about families, Mummies, love, and the word special. Those who could, told me why they loved their Mummies. We worked hard creating some lovely bags for you, every one is different and the children had such fun painting them. I love that you can see their little hand prints and that they could paint however they wanted for their Mummies. 🥰

So many parents are often worried about why their child is not able to write by the age of 4 and why instead of writing, the teacher is allowing them to play, or be creative with intricate or fine motor materials?

This picture explains why.

Up until 6 years of age, their tiny hands are still developing and are not fully formed. Children require progressive development in their hands to enable them to grasp and hold things and eventually develop their writing skills.

Like any muscles, we must train them, strengthen them and ‘work out’ to get them stronger - this is just the same for the muscles in children’s hands.

So what should be done to support this?

PLAY! Playdough, colouring, tearing, sensory play, beading, picking cotton balls with tweezer/cloth clips, cleaning, wiping, holding, grabbing, sweeping, cutting, planting, digging etc.

These types of activities may not seem like education to you, but they are the foundations of what is to come. Rush the process and the results will be catastrophic.

We must allow our children to develop their fine motor skills which in turn, develop the skills required for early, emergent writing and later full writing skills.

When children are ready to write, they will. No need to rush them, they will show you when they are ready 🙂

We're back... again!

Little L is now 5 months and a dream, she has loved her first week back, as have the boys. Adventure awaits 🥰

I currently have space on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday but have contacted the first few on the waiting list to fill these up. Should that not work for them, I'll contact the rest of the waiting list. If you're wanting a space, please do let me know.

Love to you all. Thanks for all your support and kindness. Tx

When you're lucky and one of your children's lovely parents own a horse! 😍

The boys had such a wonderful time meeting this beauty, what a gentle soul.
What a special experience. 💕

(For reassurence: I cropped out the person holding the boys onto the horse- they're not up there by themselves and I only let go myself to take the picture. They were safe the whole time. 😊)

Edit- a year later with little one having a go, too 🥰
