Alameda Middle School Alameda is a purpose-built middle school for pupils of all abilities from the ages of 9 to 13 years. It converted to Academy status in August 2011.

Alameda is a purpose-built Middle School for pupils of all abilities from the ages of 9 to 13 years. Our intake of pupils comes mainly from our three feeder Lower Schools (The Firs, Russell and Maulden Lower Schools) and neighbouring villages. At the end of Year 8 our pupils move on to Redborne Upper School. We have recently increased our capacity from 600 to 720. To accommodate this expansion we have a phased building programme which started in October 2013. The first phase (6 new classrooms) is now complete. The school is situated in a very attractive woodland setting within the pleasant Georgian market town of Ampthill. The school shares a site with The Firs Lower School on Alameda Drive and both schools border ‘Coopers Hill’ which is a designated site of special scientific interest. The school takes its name from ‘The Alameda’, a tree lined avenue running between the school and its playing fields. The double avenue of lime trees, known as "The Alameda" was planted in the 1820s by Lord and Lady Holland of Park House, Ampthill on their return from Spain where they had admired the tree-lined "almeidas". 150 years later the name Alameda was chosen for the purpose built middle school when it opened in 1973. The names used for our house system - Aragon, Castile, Leon and Navarre - are taken from Spanish historical domains and each coat of arms is depicted in the school badge. 🏃‍♀️🎉 Alameda PTA Fun Run 2026 – Friday 23rd October! 🎉🏃‍♂️

Get ready for our annual afternoon of running fun! Pupils can wear their house colours as they take part in our non-competitive Fun Run from 1.30–2:55pm.

💛 We’re raising funds to improve our outdoor areas, providing much-needed shelter for all our children in sun or rain.

💛 What a fantastic turnout for Hello Yellow at Alameda! 💛

Alameda pupils and staff have truly embraced the day, with everything from bananas and Minions to so many other wonderfully creative yellow costumes! It has been fantastic to see our school community come together to support such a worthwhile charity, YoungMinds.

By wearing yellow, raising vital funds, and spreading awareness, we are showing young people that they are not alone. Today, we are standing united to support young people’s mental health and wellbeing. 💛

A huge well done to our incredible Food Leaders, whose delicious cakes sold out in under 10 minutes! Their hard work, alongside the fantastic posters and preparations, helped make the day such a success.

🏐 What a fantastic evening of netball on the new Alameda netball courts! Over 40 girls were involved, including Year 7 pupils training and girls representing the school in both the Year 7 and Year 8 netball fixtures against Woodland💙

🌟 Year 8 started slowly, trailing by 5 at the end of the first quarter, but after a reminder to spread the play, the girls fought back. With determination, flair and passion, they turned over centre passes, closed the gap and pulled away to secure a fantastic 36–24 win! 👏

🌟 Year 7 had a competitive game, with some girls playing together for the first time. Despite Woodlands taking the win 15–9, it was a closely fought, goal-for-goal game with some great performances on show.

It was brilliant to see so many girls getting involved, with some representing the school team for the first time — what a great opportunity! 🏐👏

A huge thank you to Woodland for another friendly, well-matched fixture and for the excellent sportsmanship throughout. 💙

A really good performance from our Y6 second team this afternoon who faced Henlow. Despite dominating much of the game they struggled to beat the opposition keeper who was having a fantastic game! Our keepers also did very well to keep the goals out with a string of fine saves. Special mentions to Diego and Jaxon who performed very well and were nominated by their team mates as players player! 👏
