Back to work looks very different for me this year! While I miss all my adventures in the forest…… I can’t quite shake the feeling it may be just as fun and bonkers if the first day of the new school year is anything to go by (Yes that is a pony/ unicorn in my classroom) 🤪🦄

A big good luck to all Forest school/ outdoor leaders as we head in to what is set to be a rough Autumn, Winter & Spring thanks to El Niño 🌧️

We are still working tirelessly to create something wonderful at Oak Valley Farm for you all! And we can’t wait to welcome everyone back to our new home as soon as we can 💛🌳

Can you believe we opened our gates 2 years ago today! What a journey it’s been! I’m finding it very odd not working this summer! But spending time with my wonderful family is making up for missing my forest friends!

A little update on our land… 🌿

For those who are new here, it’s been almost four months since we took the leap and bought our own piece of land. Before that, we ran our Forest School from a small rented woodland, but we dreamed of creating a space that was truly our own, somewhere we could grow, develop and share with even more families.

BUT it turns out buying a piece of land and opening a Forest School isn’t quite as simple as we’d imagined! 😅 There’s been a lot happening behind the scenes with planning, legal processes, permissions and paperwork, things that aren’t very exciting to post about, but are all part of the journey.

In the meantime, we’ve been working hard on the land itself. Lots of clearing, cutting back and making it safe, all while trying to balance the ever-growing costs that come with a project like this.

For now, I’ve been incredibly lucky to be welcomed into a lovely school where I’m teaching while we continue building our dream ❤️

Thank you to everyone who keeps asking for updates and cheering us on. It might be taking longer than we’d hoped, but we’re determined to get there, and when we finally open those gates, it’ll all have been worth it.

Slow progress is still progress 🌲✨

There’s something bittersweet about this moment… these much-loved pieces that my dad made us are getting ready to head off to their new homes 🌿

These mud kitchens have been the heart of so many magical moments, bubbling potions, leafy soups, muddy masterpieces, and endless imaginative play. Little hands have mixed, poured, stirred, and created whole worlds here, where anything was possible.

Around these tables, friendships have blossomed. There’s been laughter, teamwork, problem-solving, and shared ideas, learners working together and building connections that go far beyond play.

They may be moving on, but the memories made here will always be part of our story. Here’s to the next adventures they’ll inspire, and the new imaginations they’ll spark 💚
