Growing great readers!
At our school, we know that developing strong reading skills is one of the most important things we can do to help our children succeed. But alongside learning to read fluently and confidently, we want every child to discover the joy, imagination and adventure that books can bring.
We make time for reading every day and encourage our children to explore a wide range of books, authors and genres. We want reading to be something children choose to do because they love it, not simply because they have to.
One of the things we are particularly proud of is our older children becoming fantastic reading role models for our younger children. Each week, our older readers spend time reading alongside our younger children, sharing stories, talking about books and helping to build confidence.
It is wonderful to see our children supporting one another and sharing their enthusiasm for books. Our older children are not only helping younger readers to develop their skills — they are helping to inspire a lifelong love of reading.

Our first full week back in school and everyone is fully immersed into the curriculum. It has been wonderful to see our children settling into routines, embracing their learning and working so hard. We have lots of new topics to dive into this half-term from a study of Kenya for Key Stage 1, a World War 2 project and an in-depth study of the Romans for our Key Stage 2 classes.

After only a handful of days back in school, the children have already taken part in a range of physical activity in their PE lessons. We’ve had multi-skills sessions and circuit training keeping everyone active and honing their skills. Some of our children in years 3 and 4 have also completed their Bikeability level 1 (practising key cycling skills on our sports playground) and our year 6 children completed their Bikeability level 2 where they had to demonstrate a range of skills whilst cycling on the roads around Ambleside. Well done on your cycling achievements Key Stage 2. 🚲

Today we celebrated our wonderful Year 6 children at their Leavers' Service, reflecting on all they have achieved during their time with us and sharing their hopes and aspirations for the future.
This evening, the celebrations continued with a pizza party.
We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of them. They have grown into kind, confident and resilient young people, and it has been a privilege to watch them learn, flourish and shine.
Year 6, as you prepare for your next adventure at secondary school, remember to believe in yourselves, embrace every opportunity and never stop being the brilliant individuals you are.
Good luck, Year 6 – we will miss you all so much, but we know you are ready for the exciting journey ahead.

A morning walk up Orrest Head in Windermere today. The views across the local fells and Lake Windermere were awe inspiring for the children. They also thoroughly enjoyed a picnic in the shade of the trees and exploring the fabulous Gruffalo trail and tree sculptures.
