Adventure in the Andes - The Life Cycle Biodiversity Bike Ride

In 2017, Kate Rawles – a former lecturer in Outside Studies at the University of Cumbria – cycled the length of South America on a bamboo bike she built herself. En route she explored biodiversity: what it is, why it matters and why losing it amounts to as great a threat as climate change. Join us to hear about the amazing activists she met; the highs and lows of the journey; and what we can all do. And meet the bike!

Cumbria People and Nature Network Gathering 25th April 2024 1 - 5pm

The second gathering of this network is on the Ambleside campus. Do join us for some or all of the afternoon. Please share with colleagues and students or cohorts who may find this of interest.

The event will offer an opportunity to connect, meet and talk with other members and learn about future plans for the network. It will also provide the chance to learn about what’s happening to create a nature recovery strategy for our county and have your say about the priorities around people and nature that need to be part of this.

All are welcome and it would be fantastic to see you.

Pleased to announce that this publication, in which Emeritus Prof Chris Loynes had a role, research informed practice guide tool for developing the use of outdoor and nature settings as a sustainable mental health asset has just been published!
It provides a structure and self-assessment framework to support organisations and professionals utilising nature for mental health benefit.
