WHAT DID YOUR ACADEMY PROMISE YOU THAT THEY NEVER ACTUALLY DELIVERED?

I ask this because in my early days, every single pound mattered.

I was working from a bed in an attic. There was no big pot of money sitting there waiting for me to “invest in myself”.

If I paid for something, I needed it to actually do what it said it would do.

That has stayed with me.

So now, when we sell training, I think about the woman on the other side of that payment.

The one who has saved for it.

Moved things around.

Talked herself into finally doing it.

Maybe even told herself, “this has to be worth it.”

That is why I cannot stand vague promises.

If we say support, there should be support.

If we say practical training, you should actually get your hands on.

If we say we are teaching you something, you should leave knowing what the hell you are doing.

Not because any academy is perfect.

We are not.

But because your money, your time, and your confidence matter.

I waited MONTHS before I finally paid £999 for my first dermal filler course.

And remember, I was already a nurse.

I understood anatomy.
I understood patients.
I understood complications.

But standing there actually treating someone in aesthetics?

Completely different feeling.

That is probably why I am so obsessed with how people feel when they leave training now.

Because a certificate means absolutely nothing if you get home, somebody messages asking for an appointment, and your first thought is:

“Oh s**t. I don’t actually want anyone to book.”

That is not where I want our students to end up.

I want you asking questions while you are here.

I want you to get things wrong while there is somebody stood next to you to correct you.

I want you to understand WHY you are doing something instead of memorising a few injection points and hoping for the best.

And when you leave?

You might still be nervous.

You should still respect the fact you are treating an actual human face.

But terrified to touch anyone without your tutor stood beside you?

No.

Training should be building your independence, not making you permanently dependent on the person who trained you.

So I genuinely want to know…

There were times we nearly fu**ed this up.

Not “had a difficult week.”
Not “faced a few challenges.”

Properly fu**ed it up.

We’ve made expensive mistakes.
Trusted people we shouldn’t have.
Backed ideas that went nowhere.
Changed our minds.
Changed them again.
Spent money we probably shouldn’t have spent.
Held onto things for too long.
Walked away from things too late.

There have been arguments.
Tears.
Panic.
Embarrassing decisions.
Months where things looked brilliant from the outside and felt like absolute chaos behind the scenes.

And yes, there have been moments where we’ve both thought:

“What the f**k are we actually doing?”

That’s the bit people don’t see when they look at the mansion, the team, the students, and the business we have now.

They see the result.

They don’t see the amount of times we had to drag this business back from places we never thought we’d end up.

Our comeback wasn’t pretty.

It wasn’t one inspirational moment where everything suddenly made sense.

It was swallowing our pride.
Admitting when we were wrong.
Making uncomfortable decisions.
Starting again when we were absolutely exhausted.
And refusing to let our worst chapter become the ending.

10 years in and we still get things wrong.

The difference now?

We don’t fall apart every time we do.

We fix it.
We learn.
We rebuild.

And sometimes we come back even f**king louder 🤍

MUM AND AMBITIOUS BELONG IN THE SAME SENTENCE.

I am so tired of women being made to feel guilty for wanting more.

You can adore your children and still want a career.

You can be grateful for your life and still want to change it.

You can be a brilliant mum and still want money of your own, goals of your own, and something that reminds you that you are still YOU.

I have been the mum looking at the rota trying to work out childcare.

I have been the mum worrying about money.

I have been the mum wondering whether chasing something bigger made me selfish.

It didn’t.

My children did not need me to make myself smaller for them.

They needed to see their mum back herself.

And I want more women to hear this.

Wanting a business does not make you greedy.

Wanting financial freedom does not make you ungrateful.

Wanting a life outside of being somebody’s mum does not mean you love your children any less.

You are allowed to want BOTH 🙌🏻

I genuinely think the end of 2026 is going to be the point people realise we were nowhere near finished.

This year has been exciting, but it has also been messy.

Me and Kirsty have had hundreds of ideas, changed our minds, scrapped things, rebuilt things, and had plenty of “right, this is not working, what are we doing instead?” conversations.

That is the bit people do not always see.

What you do see is the mansion, the courses, the pink, and the launches.

What you don’t see is me having an idea, Kirsty pulling it apart from every angle, the team figuring out how to make it happen, then all of us going again if it is not good enough.

But that is exactly why I am so excited about what is next.

We are working on more regulated qualifications, more CPD courses, new tutors, renovations at the mansion, and more routes into beauty, aesthetics, and education.

We are also working on making proper qualifications more accessible to more people, and there are things happening behind the scenes for 2027 that I am desperate to talk about but cannot yet 👀

That is basically me and Kirsty though.

We reach the thing we once thought was massive and five minutes later one of us is saying:

“Right, what are we doing next?”

The end of 2026 is about building.

2027 is about going much bigger 🩷

I moved to Manchester 13 years ago with £300. I had no GCSEs and came into aesthetics as a non-medic. The salon, the academy, and the business we have now all came later.

So when I hear women say “I’m only a non-medic” or feel embarrassed asking a question, I get it. It’s easy to look at everyone else and think they know something you don’t.

I didn’t start out knowing how to do all of this. I needed people to explain things to me too, sometimes more than once.

Of course you need proper training. You need to know your limits and take the responsibility of treating someone seriously. There’s a lot to learn, and you should feel comfortable asking for help with it.

What bothers me is someone sitting there pretending they understand because they’re worried about looking stupid. I’d much rather they asked the question, however basic someone else thinks it is.

If I could change something about this industry, that would be it. How we speak to people who are still learning. You can have high standards and still be patient with someone.

IF YOUR ENTIRE REASON FOR OFFERING POLYNUCEOTIDES IS “EVERYONE’S ASKING FOR THEM”, WE NEED TO TALK.

You’ve seen the reels. Your clients have seen them too. Now someone’s pointing at their lower face asking, “Will these sort this out?”

Can you explain what they might help with, where their limits are, and whether they’re appropriate for that person?

Because “it’s going viral” is a rubbish reason to put something in someone’s face.

That’s why understanding the treatment matters BEFORE adding it to your menu.

And if you’re thinking, “I’ve trained, but I still need to get my head around this”, ask. Study. Revisit it.

There’s no shame in needing more knowledge. Pretending you’ve got it all figured out helps nobody.

I left school with no GCSEs.

Not one.

I wasn’t academic. I had dyslexia, I struggled at school, and I definitely didn’t leave thinking I was going to build a career in education.

Then I got into beauty.
That turned into a salon.
Then an academy.
Then a shop.
Then House of Girl Boss.

And now I’m sat here running a multi seven figure business and a training school.

So when I see women writing themselves off because they didn’t do well at school, or because they’re 16 and have no idea what they want to do yet, I genuinely get it.

Your school results do not get to decide the rest of your life.

Our Qualifi Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is open to ages 16+ and it’s for people who need that proper starting point.

I just found something I was good at and kept going.
