St Ambrose Preparatory School: Where Individual Attention Nurtures Academic Excellence.

An independent, co-educational Catholic school based in Trafford, welcoming children aged 3-11. St Ambrose Preparatory School is an independent, co-educational school for children from 4 to 11 years old.

Following our recent inspection by the Catholic Schools Inspectorate, where we were graded Outstanding in all areas, we are delighted to now be able to share the details of the report, linked in our bio.

The feedback we received from the Inspectors was incredibly positive, testament to all the wonderful work undertaken by the staff and children alike and we are immensely proud of our entire school family.

Julia Cunningham, the Catholic Schools Inspectorate Coordinator commented as follows:

"Congratulations on this report of the outstanding offer given to the pupils of St Ambrose Prep and their families. The spirit of Edmund Rice is clearly visible throughout the school, and the advocacy work is a real strength. You should rightly be very proud of this report!"

Furthermore, Roisin Maguire, Director of @edmundriceengland added her feedback:

“What shines through the report is the collective commitment to ensuring that every child is known, valued and supported to flourish. The Inspectors’ findings are a testament to the culture you have created together - one rooted in faith, aspiration, service and excellence.

Such outcomes are never achieved by chance. They are the result of countless acts of commitment, generosity and hard work, often unseen, over many years. Every member of staff has contributed to this success, and you should take great pride in what has been achieved.”

Inspired by Blessed Edmund Rice, we live out the Eight Essentials, the guiding philosophy for Edmund Rice schools, through faith, justice, community and compassion and marked Edmund Rice Feast Day with a plethora of activities.

The children created art work, poems and prayers and our family came together to celebrate Mass, joined by Ann Nichols pictured with Prep 4, representing

It has been lovely welcoming the children back to school for what we are sure is going to be another action-packed and fun-filled term!

The sun has also put in a very welcome appearance and the children have been loving spending time outside. ☀️

As ever it was a busy time in the run up to the Easter holidays and the end of the Spring term.

In addition to taking part in The Big Lent Walk for which saw us raise over £320 towards their schemes to help fight global poverty, the children also participated in visiting the Stations of the Cross, reflecting on the important events leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion and then his joyful resurrection on Easter Sunday. This was also the focus of our end of term assembly, led so beautifully by pupils in Prep 3.

We wish all of our St Ambrose Prep pupils, families and staff a very happy Easter.

Happy Mother’s Day! 💐

Early Years invited their families to a very special assembly on Friday. 💐

They shared with their parents, other family members and the rest of the school just why their mummies are so special to them and they all performed beautifully. 💐

We have had such fun this week, marking , getting curious whilst considering answers to the some pressing questions that the children have about the world! 🧬

Children in Early Years have been experimenting, seeing what effect coloured water might have on flowers as well as getting busy creating rain clouds. 🌦

Competition has been fierce across our junior classes to create the best design for a paper aeroplane, balloon rocket or wind powered vehicle; which were specially designed, before being put to the test, with sails that the children felt would be the most effective to propel their vehicles the furthest. 🎈

Prep 4 were inspired by real-life challenges faced by farmers in mountainous Nepal, designing and creating ways to transport tomatoes without squashing them! 🍅

In addition to our activities, the Gadget Shop has been running all week overseen by pupils from Prep 4. This proved to be a great hit with the children throughout the school, with a particularly popular and sell-out item being slime! 🧬

The sale and raffle raised funds of over £150 which will be spent on additional science resources for our school and we thank our parents and children for their support. 🧪

And finally, congratulations to Tobias and Joses who were the lucky winners of our Gadget Shop raffle prizes.

What a fabulous day we have had celebrating the joy of books and reading for World Book Day.

As ever we were impressed by the children’s costumes and the effort they made. We were even more impressed by our staff and also our parents for entering in to the spirit of the day too!

To mark the day the children throughout the school took part in various reading inspired activities. Prep 3 started the day with a ‘coffee shop’ where they could relax and read books, eating a biscuit… or two!

They then paid the children in Early years a visit to spend some time reading to them. All great fun!
