Our Wraparound Care enables all children from the age of two to be safely looked after in school from 7:30am until 6:00p.m each day. 🍂 See You Tomorrow!

George and Mildred have enjoyed the sunshine, but they're now very excited to see our Foresters back in school tomorrow for the 102nd year of Forest!

We can't wait to welcome everyone into their new classrooms, discover new books, tackle exciting maths, produce some fantastic writing and begin another year of adventure together.

Don’t worry if you are a little nervous because everyone is (even the grown ups) and your nerves will quickly disappear as you get stuck into your work and see your friends again.

See you very soon, in your shiny new shoes and looking very smart, like a true Forester.

11+ Practice- Well done Year 6!

Throughout the summer our Year 6 children have been able to come into school each Wednesday for 11+ Holdiday Classes. This week they’ve finished with a bumper 3-day block of sessions.

Our fabulous Year 6s participated in Maths Speed Dating at holiday class this morning. After discussing as a group which topic they felt needed consolidation, we identified those in the practice paper and rotated through partners to work in them.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

As we look ahead to September, we're excited for even more lessons to take place in our Outdoor Learning Classroom, where the curriculum comes to life through practical, hands-on experiences in the great outdoors.

This year our pupils have:
🌳 Explored habitats through science investigations.
🪴 Developed their understanding of plants and life cycles through gardening and growing.
🐞 Observed minibeasts and the changing seasons to deepen their scientific enquiry skills.
📏 Applied maths through measuring, estimating and problem-solving in real life situations.
✍️ Used the natural environment to inspire descriptive writing, poetry and storytelling.
🤝 Worked collaboratively to solve challenges, developing resilience, communication and teamwork.

Outdoor learning activities are carefully planned to support our curriculum while encouraging curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love of learning. Our Outdoor Learning Classroom has become an important part of school life, with pupils embracing opportunities to investigate, explore and discover in meaningful ways.

We can't wait to see even more learning taking place outside next year as our children continue to ask questions and learn by doing.

🎉 20 Years of Mrs Burns at Forest! 🎉

This September marks an incredible milestone for one of our much-loved Foresters.

💜 Mrs Burns joined Forest as our Reception Teacher working as a job-share with Mrs Thomson before moving to a full time post in Year 1 the following year. That was where she began working with the legendary, Mrs Wells and where the two of them continue to this very day.

💜 Mrs Burns is the ultimate Year 1 Teacher. Her big heart shines out each day with our 5 and 6 year olds. Whenever anyone needs a warm smile, kind word or good fun, you know Mrs Burns will always have the power to make you feel good. She has the natural ability to achieve incredibly high standards whilst pouring love and affection into every child she teaches.

Good luck to our Class of 2021 as you receive your GCSE results today.

Although you've now moved on to senior school, you'll always be part of the Forest Prep family, and we'll be thinking of each of you today.

Whatever your results, remember that success comes in many forms. We hope you feel proud of everything you've achieved through your hard work, determination and resilience.

Our two special Foresters are also enjoying their summer break, having a great time making new friends at Domestic Doggess this summer ( also need their holiday adventures!)

We’re sure they will have lots of stories to tell the children when they return to school with the staff in September.
