Here are some snapshots of the 10 days.

🐛Hungry caterpillars sensory tray in tots which was inspired by a child’s interest in the story. This activity had the children captivated and engaged with the various textures and scents.

☪️ Tots celebrated Eid by creating beautiful star and moon collages. We talked about the festival of Eid.

🍊 In tots we celebrated day! So we made vitamin C rich smoothies. The children carefully used knives, juicers and hand held smoothie makers to create a refreshing drink.

👩‍👦Easter Stay and Play activities for children and parents with Spring scented play dough and herbs, stick and glue and find the hidden egg.

🥕The tots had lots of fun exploring a sensory gardening tray, using real vegetables. Using real vegetables enabled the children to explore a range of different senses such as touch and smell. The activity also encouraged lots of new language and a chance to play alongside each other discovering something new and exciting!

Ryan has been busy creating our incredible forest school with various activity stations, outdoor toilet, handwashing station, indoor activity spaces inside the tipi and he’s created a bird hide! He’s also been busy over at Lymm working with our new forest school leader there. We’re so proud of our forest school inspired approach and can’t wait to see how these spaces grow and evolve in both our nurseries.

The preschoolers thoroughly enjoyed honing their fine motor skills as they engaged in threading activities with pipe cleaners. With nimble fingers, they crafted various intricate patterns, resulting in a stunning masterpiece.

🎨🫶🏼The finished creation now adorns the wall, for further contributions from the children.

Here’s just a snapshot of some of the lovely activities we’ve been getting up to over the last few weeks at Altrincham. 👇

👕To celebrate Red Nose Day we enjoyed wearing PJ’s to nursery and toddlers decorated biscuits to create edible red noses ❤️

🎨To celebrate , we chose a famous artist, Edith Isaac Rose, and using her artwork as visuals for inspiration we created our own artwork based on her amazing brightly coloured pieces.

🖌Following on from this activity where we were inspired by a famous artist we created art exploring two more famous artists, Andy Warhol and Van Gogh. The children used different materials such as paint sticks to create Van Goghs painting and other painting materials for Andy Warhol. The babies enjoyed using there fine motor skills.

🐝 Tiny tots explored Bumble bees by filling a tray with black and yellow rice, honey hoops, honey sauce and flowers to add texture, the children used spoons to scoop up the rice and flowers together and them poured them back into the try.

What a HUGE success World Book Day was.

Across our settings the team and children all dressed up as their favourite characters and there were activities happening in all of the rooms.

We visited Ashlands Manor Care Home, a New Care Home, owned by the McGoff Group (our co-founders) which was very special sharing story-time with the elderly residents. 👀👉 https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4QSrhCoOD5/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

🌎♻️In the spirit of Back To the Garden, and sustainability, we want to do something to aid the slow approach and these special days can sometimes contribute to the fast fashion industry and be quite commercial. With that in mind, we are offering to take any costumes your children may have outgrown in order to repurpose them for future events, helping the planet and pockets. We will always welcome homemade and shop bought but we thought it would be fun to bring a rail out each year with preloved costumes.

Reflecting on last weeks activities at our Altrincham nursery.

👶 Babies:

🥢 Chinese Buffet - Babies enjoyed a sensory Chinese buffet, they used chopsticks and forks to pick up the noodles and rice. The children enjoyed taking part in trying out the new flavours of the food, exercising their fine motor skills to pick up the noodles. It was a super fun morning.

👦The Rising Two’s:

🖌Chinese writing and mark making - The children enjoyed using black ink to make marks on paper, looking at the Chinese symbols and creating their own.

🍜Noodle activity - The children got to pretend they were at a Chinese restaurant making their own stir fry. They were all very engaged and used the chop sticks to pick up the noodles and transfer them in to different pots and pans. They even took their pan to the cooker to fry up the noddles. Some of the children enjoyed recognising the numbers on the cards and counting the different vegetables.

🍚Chinese Rice Play - The children enjoyed emptying and filling containers with the rice. They also had so much fun finding the golden coins hidden in the rice.

🙌 Playdough - The children engaged in making marks in the play dough with the chop sticks. They also used the golden coins as templates to create their own golden coins out of the play dough.

This morning the tots at our Altrincham setting had so much fun making pretend pancakes. They enjoyed the sensory experience of handling the different materials and textures. Lots of new language was introduced such as lemon, pancake, flour. This activity supported our physical development using both gross and fine motor skills.
