Breathing is the foundation of your voice.

Before we even think about notes or lyrics, we need a supported, relaxed breath.

In singing, we don’t lift the shoulders or gasp for air.
We breathe low — into the ribs and belly — and control the exhale as we sing. Many of my students will tell you we do mirror work, wall exercises, floor work, resistance bands and for extreme cases shoulders are held down to assist in correct breath work!

When your breath is working with you, everything feels easier:
