We were so incredibly lucky to welcome some tiny caterpillars into The Beehive, and the children absolutely loved watching them grow and change!

Much like our older children who are now preparing to leave for ‘big school’, it has been a joy to watch them flourish and get ready for their next adventure!

This wonderful experience opened up fantastic opportunities to explore the life cycle of a butterfly, introducing new vocabulary such as metamorphosis, chrysalis and proboscis.
We also enjoyed reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which sparked conversations around healthy eating and encouraged the children to try a variety of fruits!

Through this experience, the children developed their understanding of the world around them, observed changes over time, expanded their vocabulary, and engaged in meaningful discussions !

We were very lucky to have some special visitors brought into The Beehive last week!
The children were absolutely fascinated as they carefully observed the fluffy little chicks, asking thoughtful questions, sharing their ideas and learning all about the life cycle! 🥚🐤🐔

Experiences like this create wonderful opportunities to nurture curiosity, encourage empathy and develop an understanding of how to care for living things.
Watching the children engage with such awe and wonder was truly heartwarming !

Thankyou so much again to Katie ( Hawbridge Farm ) for providing the children with such magical experiences ✨️

Throughout the last week at The Beehive, the children have loved creating magical potions and beautiful perfumes using flowers, herbs and water! As well as splashing in the paddling pool, and cooling down with refreshing ice pops 💐

These simple summer experiences have supported so much learning, encouraging curiosity, imaginative play, communication and language, and developing fine and gross motor skills as the children explored, poured, mixed and experimented together ! ☀️

💙 Happy Father’s Day 💙

To all the amazing dads, grandads, step-dads, uncles, and all of the incredible men who play a special role in children’s lives , today is all about you! 💙

The children have been very busy making Father’s Day cards and sharing all the things they love about their Dads !

We’ve heard that dads are great at cooking pizza and pasta , driving to the airport , picking up dog poo (!) and apparently some have very smelly feet! 😂

On a sweeter note, the children also told us that their dads are super funny, great at dancing and give the best kisses and cuddles ! 💙

This week at The Beehive we have been busy celebrating Bees ! 🐝

The children have been discovering the magic of bees and learning all about pollination. We were very lucky to taste delicious honey made by local bees in Shalden, kindly donated for the children to enjoy and of course we simply had to bake honey biscuits too! 🍯

Our week has been filled with music and imagination as we listened and painted to ‘Flight of the Bumblebee’ by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, talking about how the music buzzes, whirls and races along ! 🐝

This has led us beautifully into the world of Peter and the Wolf , the children are truly enjoying music that tells a story ! 🎶

Whatever the weather 🌦

We truly believe childhood is best spent with muddy boots, rosy cheeks and endless adventures outdoors…
Who says a classroom should be confined to four walls ? 🔍🌿

We have had the most magical morning !
Today , we had some very special visitors -
It was such a special , hands-on experience with opportunities to hold and help feed the animals! 🐑🐓

They support the children in building confidence, developing empathy and understanding how to care for living things, as well as encouraging communication, curiosity, and lots of meaningful conversation about the world around them!

A huge thank you again to Hawbridge Farm for making this possible and helping us create such wonderful, memorable and educational experiences for the children 🤍
