“The child who has fun learning will be a success in life”.

A truly wonderful day we’ve had celebrating our mini carnival. Everyone dressed in their radiant colours and filled our nursery with fun, laughter, games and musical art.

Our delicious smoky popcorn went down a treat today.

The Princess Royal’s carriage.

A box is never just a box in a child’s eye.
This beautifully decorated carriage (children’s idea) has been the highlight of the morning with trips up to London to the beach and some of the children’s houses.

Lots of learning took place during its construction and it’s still standing tall.

Well, what a sports day! Medstead had its own mini Olympics today. And the children absolutely loved it.

Everyone got to have a go in an event or two. The parents were all very game and did brilliantly. Even the teaching team had a race!

But the brightest smiles belonged to the children.

Time to release our butterflies!

Our children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the the lifecycle of a caterpillar.

Today after weeks of carefully watching our caterpillars become chrysalises as they changed at every stage, we released our beautiful butterflies into the wild.

What’s so great about messy play?

We learned about textures and developed new words to describe them such as: wet, sloppy, smooth, gloopy and sticky.

So, messy play meant cleaning up our vocabulary!

Oh what a beautiful world! 🌎

Love, learn, live

I’ve worked in childcare for over 20 years, including a spell as an Ofsted Inspector and 9 plus years as a successful nursery manager. During this time I’ve come to understand exactly what it takes to make a good nursery excellent. You can have all the resources in the world but if you don’t have the right team the nursery and its children will never reach their true potential. It’s with this knowledge and experience that I’ve founded Single Steps Nurseries.

Our mission as a nursery is to provide your children with the ideal educational bedrock in an environment of inclusivity and care. So that as they grow and move to the next stage in their schooling they already have all they need instilled within them to be successful. We base our educational ethos on three principles: Love, learn, live.

Simply put we treat all of our children with love, from love for the world around them to love and respect for each other. We also encourage a love of learning, so that they develop enquiring minds eager to understand and know more. And we teach them how to apply these learnings and qualities to the everyday, enabling them to live a richer more fulfilling life.
