SJV Tuition Maths tuition from Year 7 to A level

09/06/2026

It's the final maths paper tomorrow, 10th June. It's humbling to see how hard all the students have worked. Their dedication and commitment is an inspiration and it's such sweet sadness to say goodbye to them. Please let me know how they felt the final paper went and of course tell me how they did when results day comes around. There will be new students in September and hopefully some of the current crop will want to continue with A level.
Best of luck to you all.

Thinking of all the students tomorrow morning sitting their maths Paper 2. Best of luck to you - you've all worked hard and deserve to have your efforts recognized.

Maths GCSE Paper 1 was this morning - hope it went well for everyone. You can only do your best - no-one can ask more of you. I know how hard you've all worked towards this.
One down - two to go.

Happy New Year to all our students. We wish you all the grades you want or need for the next phase in your lives.

For those young people out there, who have had the results of their Maths GCSE mocks, or are about to take some, for those who have taken a re-sit and still didn't get the pass they need, sometimes, a maths tutor can be invaluable, if you find the right tutor for you.

David is a highly experienced tutor, whose calm and quiet approach to working with young people has been highly effective in so many cases. He always gives 100% to each student, and it shows. If you are struggling, or want to give a pre-GCSE extra push, why not get in touch, or check out the website for all the information you need.

He works online or face to face in our specially designed tutor room, so give him a call, or Whatsapp him.

We look forward to hearing from you, soon.

Gosh, what a year. We have been so pleased to celebrate the successes of our A level and GCSE pupils this August. The hard work and consistent focus have paid off.

David is now taking on new pupils. Send him a Whatsapp, or contact him using the number on the website.

I would like to remind you that it's better for your child to start getting help before they begin their GCSE studies, giving them 2 years to make that difference, rather than getting in touch with us 2 months before the exams start.

David is happy to tutor face to face in our specially created tutor room, or online. And of course, is willing to change from one to the other, depending on what best suits your child.

The queries have already started for this September, so have that awkward chat with your child and if you need help, give us a call.

Today is GCSE results day: whatever the outcome, whether you are elated or disappointed, I know that every one of you has worked hard and made a huge effort, and I have the profoundest respect for you all. You are the future of the world, which is good cause for optimism.

Another academic year is coming to a close, and our GCSE students are in the middle of their exams. They've been sent individual "Good Luck" messages to help them through.

Although they have still been supported with their maths in these last few weeks, from Friday 20th June, David will have a number of spaces in his timetable.

If your child is struggling with maths, losing confidence with their abilities or just simply wanting to have some help to make specific concepts clearer, then NOW is the time to contact him. (The sooner the better, is my advice.)

Last academic year, David had an enormous uptake of his tutoring right at the beginning of the academic year - normally, the floodgates open after the first set of mocks in November - which is possibly linked to the present Y11s being in Y6/Y7 during the Covid years.

However, the fallout from those 2-3 years continues.

If your child is in Y10 or Y11 in September and needs help, don't leave it to the last few weeks before exams. It puts a huge strain on both pupil and tutor! Get in touch by going to the SJV Tuition webpage, (www.sjvtuition.co.uk) and sending us an email, or a message on Whatsapp. Regular weekly sessions, focusing on those "Covid-gaps" as well as the GCSE curriculum will bring the best results.
Equally, if your child's SATs results were not what they expected, and you'd like them to have a boost, then do it now. Extra support at the beginning of secondary school could be just what they need to get back their confidence.

David works online, or if you live locally, and your child needs personal, face to face support, we have our tutor room at the end of the garden.

And finally, a happy/sad decision for me (Jacqui). I am no longer taking on students- though I will finish the next academic year with my final Y6s - so our husband and wife all-through tutoring service will become dedicated to Maths and Science tuition for children in Y7 and above.

I've loved being a teacher and a tutor for over 4 decades, but it's time to embrace my retirement fully, and leave the hurly-burly to others.

As our GCSE and A level students are coming closer to the end of their exams, we continue to be proud of their efforts and wish them the success they deserve.

We look forward to hearing how they're doing in our continuing sessions, and very much hope they'll get in touch when they've been given their results.

For those students on our waiting list, we will be getting in touch with your parents from June 10th, or they can get in touch with us, to start your tuition as soon as you wish, from then on.
