: Literary Inspiration at Sterts! 📚

Throwing it back to Class 3 exploring their creative side at the Exploding Words Festival at Sterts Theatre! Following their brilliant encounter with author Tom Palmer earlier in the year, our rapid readers immersed themselves in storytelling magic and performance art. 🌟

Seeing our children's imaginations spark in such a beautiful outdoor venue is exactly what creative learning is all about. We have definitely got some future novelists in our midst!

: Fueling Bright Futures! 🥞

A wonderful Sunday shout-out to our daily Breakfast Club crew! We are incredibly proud of the massive success of our free breakfast provision, which sees our doors open at 8:15 am every single weekday morning. ☀️

Your feedback has been incredibly useful as we plan to update our provision and share our new Autumn lunch and breakfast menus. Ensuring our children start the day happy, fed, and ready to learn is our absolute priority!

: Sports Day Take 2! ☀️

The Cornish weather tried its best to stop us, but "Take 2" of our Sports Day and FOASA Summer Celebration was an absolute cracker! Following some brilliant feedback from our pupils, we introduced a few new events this year—and it’s safe to say that welly wanging was an absolute crowd-favourite! 🥾💨

From the ultra-competitive parent race to the determination shown by every single child, it was community spirit at its finest. Thank you to Mr Lyle and the Launceston College Sports Leaders for running such a flawless afternoon of sport!

❤️ : Happy Retirement, Mrs Medland! 🥂

This Sunday, our hearts are full as we send the biggest, warmest shout-out to the wonderful Mrs Medland, who officially retired at the end of the summer term. 💐

Mrs Medland has been a pillar of kindness, warmth, and dedication at Altarnun Primary School for many years, touching the lives of so many local families. While we will miss her terribly around the corridors, we are so incredibly grateful for everything she has given to our school. We wish her the most restful, happy, and adventure-filled retirement—you will always be part of the Altarnun family!

🧠 : Class 3’s Book Quiz Triumph! 🏆

Flashback to an absolute nail-biter of an afternoon! Our brilliant Class 3 pupils represented Altarnun in the Cornwall Library Service Book Quiz and absolutely smashed it. 📚⚡

Their teamwork, focus, and rapid recall of complex story facts and key information left everyone in awe. It was a beautiful display of collaborative learning and a testament to how many books they have devoured this year. Well done again, Class 3!

A MASSIVE Thank You to SPARX & Celebrating Our Incredible Readers! 📖🎉

A huge shout-out and heartfelt thank you to our friends at SPARX for coming in to help us re-label our school books, getting everything ship-shape and ready for the Autumn term! 🏷️📚 We are so excited about the fantastic new developments within the SPARX Reading programme and can't wait to dive in.

As we look ahead, we’re asking ourselves: Can we beat our stats from last year? 🏆

🛋️ : A Beautiful Library Upgrade! 📚

Today’s huge shout-out goes to our fantastic parent-teacher association, FOASA! Thanks to their incredible fundraising efforts throughout the year, our school library received a gorgeous upgrade just before the holidays. 🌟

FOASA kindly purchased and installed beautiful new library display shelves, alongside a major bundle of brand-new book titles explicitly requested by our Key Stage 2 pupils! Investing in our reading spaces is one of the most vital things we do, and we are so grateful to the FOASA team for making our library look so inviting.

🏎️ : Pit Lane Pressures & Track Triumphs! 🏁

Throwing it back to the excitement of the Greenpower Goblins Race Day at Predannack Airfield! Our playground was transformed into an engineering pit lane as our young mechanics masterfully assembled their racing cars. 🛠️⚡

From building and testing to fixing that last-minute electrical gremlin, our pupils showed what true teamwork looks like. Seeing our cars fly down the track in South Cornwall was an unforgettable moment. A massive shout-out to Miss Hughes and our tireless parent volunteers who helped get our drivers to the finish line!

A massive shout-out to our legendary Sparx Readers! Altarnun was incredibly proud to act as an official pilot school for the national Sparx Reader platform this year, and our end-of-year data proves just how much our children love to read. Check out these mind-blowing numbers:

📖 29 active readers logged their journeys.
💬 Together, they made 7,146 reading logs.
📈 They read a jaw-dropping 13,060,153 words!
✔️ They answered 25,203 correct comprehension questions.
🏆 761 books were finished cover-to-cover!

We even crowned another official 'Word Millionaire' before the summer holidays! We are so proud of your dedication to reading, Team Altarnun. Keep turning those pages this summer! ☀️

📸 : Sun, Surf, and... Magic?! 🌊

Cast your minds back to our incredible whole-school Active Beach Day at Widemouth Bay! What an absolute highlight of the summer term it was. From rock pooling and beach art to our Year 4 and 5 pupils absolutely smashing their surfing lessons, the energy was unmatched. 🏄‍♂️✨

Did you know we also discovered a secret academy of stone-balancing wizards? Our pupils managed some genuinely gravity-defying structures on the shore! We are still shaking a bit of sand out of the school bags, but every single moment was worth it. A huge thank you to FOASA for keeping us cool with beachside ice creams and lollies! 🍦
