What I have recently realised about myself is that I’m an absolute crammer.

As if the day isn’t enough, I like to squeeze in little extras, particularly during tricky transition times and hold ridiculous, ever increasing expectations.

And what’s the first thing to go? My patience.

Then second? Time to finish things properly. Whether that’s the washing up, emails, content or even my hair.

This leads to feeling completely bedraggled both inside and out.

So the one thing I’m going to do is slow down. Reduce the amount of mini tasks in between the big ones and learn when to leave it.

I say that posting this as I’m frying onions.

We’ll see.

Have you learnt anything about yourself recently? Perhaps you put things off? Or cram too much? Loose focus and patience more easily at certain times of day?

Let me know your thoughts or put ❤️ to let me know I’m not on my own.

After school, children don’t always just need calm… they need a release.

A reset

A rebalance

They’ve spent hours:• sitting still• managing emotions• following instructions• behaving in a way that’s ‘compliant’

It’s a lot.

Too much for some children for some of the time.

They leave school with their body carrying what the mind has managed

These simple, science-backed ideas support the nervous system through the body but not by talking- by doing

Think:
chewing, moving, hanging (with supervision), humming, pushing

This is what real reset can look like. Without the shouting, the resisting, the floor-drop devastation.

When we meet children here first, everything else becomes easier later on.

You may find more connection, communication and overall a better evening in readiness of the morning that will follow.

Try one today and notice the shift. Let me know that you think!

As always, this is only very gentle guidance and it’s up to you if it feels appropriate and safe for your child because of course, you know them best.

Evening! Having had a few new followers over the last week, I will be going live to introduce myself, my background and talk about the WE ARE SKY project. I’ll explain how I hope to support children with emotional processing and communication, and may chat about the many walks I have coming up to support the cause (and I MAY mention my new walking boots 🥾)

Please feel free to pop on, give me a wave, ask questions or just have a bit of a nose as I discuss the philosophy behind the workshops and where my passion for projects comes from.

Hope to see you there 💜

Spoken by a revered Lakota leader and echoing through time, these powerful words bring a clarity and urgency to a cause that still rings true today.

This is not just referencing survival; it is a collective visioning thar allows us to connect with our sacred responsibility to imagine and build a better world for the next generation.

Sitting Bull- you inspired me then, I look to you now and you will always be a symbol of the great collective power of a community.

The prevalence of social, emotional and mental health needs among young learners in Staffordshire has shown a notable increase over recent years- the percentage of children identified with SEMH needs has risen to nearly 3%.

This presents a growing urgency for creative, preventative and holistic support.

The We Are Sky- Learning to Stand the Storm project has been designed to support all young minds but particularly those who struggle to process and communicate their emotions.

We believe that no emotion is wrong. We shouldn't be teaching children that being happy is the only emotional state conducive to learning. Frustration leading to passion is key to solving problems but how can we remain outwardly calm? How can we look to our internal navigation when the fog is confusing? Let's harness the storm's energy to give us power to propel our thinking. And let's do it through dance and poetry!

🥾The Challenge 🥾Conquering 6 of Staffordshire’s Highest Peaks

⏱️WHEN?⏱️
Saturday 31st May/Sunday 1st June

⛰️WHERE? ⛰️
Walking a total of 24 miles over the 2 days, each peak will represent a step in the journey toward emotional resilience and self-expression that I aim to instil in young people through the project. Over the course of the weekend, I hope to document the journey for my supporters and utilise the opportunity to reflect on my own emotional spectrum and connect with the great outdoors.

💜 WHY? 💜
WE ARE SKY: Learning to Stand the Storm is a new workshop designed to nurture emotional literacy in children and young people through creativity and self-expression.

Blending art, poetry and soundscapes with the natural world, the project is designed to be more than a lesson- it’s an opportunity to reshape how we support mental well-being in education and the community.

We simply cannot just rely on our current system to develop emotional communication and support our children in becoming the next generation of problem solvers through kindness, empathy and understanding.

We have to be more radical.

We are seeking funding to bring WE ARE SKY to life. Your support will help us:

🦋Develop high-quality creative resources for schools and museums
🦋Facilitate workshops blending art, nature, emotional exploration and expression
🦋Produce immersive soundscapes and poetry prompts with local artists
🦋Ensure accessibility by subsidising costs for our underfunded schools
🦋Gather input from teachers, parents and young people in Staffordshire
🦋Pilot the project in a series of local schools this year

If WE ARE SKY resonates with you, please consider:
💰Making a donation (gofundme link in Bio)
🛜Sharing this campaign with your network
✏️Reaching out if you’re a school, parent or artist who’d like to collaborate or join me on one of the walks- I still have 4 spaces left

Thanks so much in advance- I appreciate all the support that I receive from our wonderful community.

Let’s teach our young minds not just how to weather the storm but how to become still within it 💜
