🐦 🍌 🦅 National Conservation Day – Bird Feeder Activity
To celebrate National Conservation Day, the babies explored the birds in our garden by making their own bird feeders using recycled toilet paper rolls, bird seeds and mashed bananas.
The children used a variety of tools to mash the bananas into a soft paste, developing their hand strength and coordination. They then explored different ways of applying the mixture, using both their hands and spoons to coat the toilet paper rolls before rolling them in bird seed.
During the activity, we listened to different bird sounds in the garden and talked about the birds we could hear and see. The babies enjoyed exploring the natural environment and showed curiosity as they observed what was happening around them. To complete the activity, we hung the bird feeders in the trees, encouraging the children to care for local wildlife and understand how we can help birds by providing food.
This experience supported the children's sensory exploration, communication and language, fine motor development, and early understanding of the importance of caring for nature and the environment. 🐦 🍌 🦅

What an incredible journey it has been! We are so proud of each and every one of you and all that you have achieved during your time at nursery.
You have grown in so many ways—becoming more confident, curious, kind, and independent every day. We've loved watching you learn new skills, make wonderful friendships, overcome challenges, and fill our nursery with laughter, creativity, and joy.
As you take your next big step and begin your school adventure, remember to believe in yourselves, keep asking questions, and never stop exploring the world around you. We know you will continue to shine and make us all proud.
Thank you for all the special memories you've given us. We will miss your smiles, your stories, and your unique personalities, but we are so excited to see all the amazing things your future holds.

Today we’ve said ‘see you soon’ to our wonderful school leavers, starting their new and exciting journey into school.

As always thank you to our wonderful families, good luck and we wish you well from all at Lawton Road!!

Over the last few weeks, the children have been learning about the butterfly life cycle. They thoroughly enjoyed observing the transformation from tiny caterpillars as they grew bigger and formed a chrysalis. The children waited patiently and excitedly to watch the beautiful butterflies emerge before releasing them into the wild.
The children also created their own butterflies using playdough and a variety of loose parts, encouraging creativity and imaginative thinking. During these activities, they learned many fascinating facts about butterflies, including that they taste with their feet, their wings are transparent, they only drink liquids, and they cannot fly if the weather is too cold.
The children then had a go at cutting out and sequencing the stages of the butterfly life cycle, discussing what happens first, next, and last before sticking the pictures into the correct order. This helped to reinforce their understanding of the life cycle and develop their early sequencing skills. At the end of the project, the children proudly watched as the butterflies were released to fly free

Today the rooms have took on our penalty shootout out competition with extra points for flags, England clothing, chanting and singing!
