We are so proud of our Discretionary Hardship Fund - we have supported 30 families this summer alone with school uniform, shoes/trainers and other essential school equipment. We know how difficult it can be to meet the costs of a new uniform all at once and we have worked hard to make sure families know how they can access help if they need it.

Remembering back to our National School Sports Week activities at the end of last term. What. A. Week!

We danced, cycled, hit, climbed, surfed, swam, jumped, pushed and more. Students were able to have a go at eight new sports which are all available in our community but not usually on offer through school. They tested their balance, co-ordination, strength, speed and teamwork skills. Most importantly they had FUN.

Sports provided this week were:
Padel at Platform Padel
Crossfit at Real Fitness
Spinning at cycle jesmond
Surfing with NE Surf School
Golf at Alnmouth Golf Club (Foxton Hall)
Bouldering at The Coliseum
Inflatables at Willowburn Sports And Leisure Centre
Tennis at Alnwick Tennis Club

These activities only happened thanks to the generosity of our community. We had local businesses providing reduced rates, ex-students sharing their talents, staff from across the school stepping in to help out, and a donation from Alnwick Harriers to make it all possible.

BOOST Discretionary Hardship Fund

If you are worried about the cost of DCHS uniform next year you can apply for help through our Discretionary Hardship Fund.

All applications are confidential. You don’t have to provide evidence of your financial circumstances but you will have to explain why you need support - this will be assessed in school before passing onto BOOST.

We have previously supported families in lots of different circumstances - we recognise that there are lots of reasons why paying for uniform might feel a stretch right now and this could be a long term or sudden/short term need. Our priority is to provide help where it is needed so every student can feel ready for school in September.

Applying is simple - dchs-alnwick.org/hardship. Everything you need to know is on the form.

We have a very generous donor who has offered to pay for a student team of 4 this year. Could you be in it?
