This week PSN Training delivered the STA Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) in to teams from National Autistic Society and Adapt Coaching.

The team showed their fantastic skills in areas such as CPR and use of an AED, choking and managing injuries and conditions.

This week I have been delivering the STA Award in Pool Emergency Responder for the team at Sporting Lodge Inns, Middlesbrough. Over the last 2 days the team successfully passed the course which included practical swimming pool rescue skills and first aid techniques including CPR, choking, managing bleeds & major illnesses.

A huge thank you to the leisure team for a lovely 2 days and to the hotel team for their wonderful hospitality!

All of our courses are Ofqual regulated, giving you peace of mind that you are recieving a recognised and quality assured qualification.

Earlier this year, schools in England were invited to help shape new statutory guidance on allergy safety.

That guidance was published at the beginning of July and comes into effect this September.

From September, schools should have:

• a whole-school allergy policy
• allergy awareness and emergency-response training for staff
• an Individual Healthcare Plan for every pupil with an allergy
• arrangements for spare adrenaline auto-injectors, with a strong expectation that schools hold them

This is a significant step forward—but it is not the end of the journey.

From 2027, Benedict’s Law will place these allergy-safety requirements into primary legislation and extend them to independent schools and fee-paying special schools too.

There is a lot for schools to understand and put into practice. Over the coming weeks, we’ll break down some of the key new expectations, what they mean and how schools can prepare.

September is the start of safer, more inclusive schools for children with allergies. 💙

This week I returned to Riverside Holiday Park in to deliver essential training to the team at Harrison Holidays.

Over the last 2 days the team completed their STA Award in Pool Emergency Responder. The training included first aid, CPR, AED and practical pool rescue training.

A huge thank you to the team for a wonderful course packed with plenty of engagement and interaction.

A big thank you also to the management team for their wonderful hospitality as always.

We have been alerted by Lidl Northern Ireland that they are recalling 1001 Delights Dubai Style Pistachio Ice Cream because it contains cashew (tree nuts) which are not mentioned on the label.

The product is therefore unsuitable for and should be avoided by anyone with an allergy or intolerance to cashews.
