Three of our students have spent the past year making a real difference through their inspiring Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) volunteering project.

As part of their volunteering section, they created and ran a mobile school shop called Seasonal Swagger. Throughout the year, they designed, crafted and sold a range of handmade items, including bracelets, pom-poms, scrunchies and treat dishes, with new seasonal products available each term.

The project was especially meaningful as the students chose to support Cancer Research UK, a charity that is close to their hearts for personal reasons. Thanks to their creativity, commitment and the generosity of our school community, they raised an impressive £90, which they proudly delivered to the charity this morning.

Seasonal Swagger has been a wonderful example of the DofE values in action, demonstrating initiative, teamwork, enterprise and compassion. We are incredibly proud of the students for dedicating so much time and effort to supporting such an important cause, while developing valuable skills and making a positive contribution to others.

Well done to everyone involved in this fantastic achievement! 🤩

On Tuesday some of our Seahorses class attended the annual LEGO League Explore event at The Village Hotel, where they proudly showcased their "Unearthed" LEGO project that they have been working so hard on in school.

The children had a fantastic day exploring a range of exciting activities, including building giant LEGO towers, tackling escape room challenges, and discovering the amazing creations from other schools. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Well done, Seahorses! 👏💙

Last week Badger and Antlers Class used some of their Modeshift funding to travel to Berwick via public transport. We received this funding when we delivered a presentation to support our older pupils becoming confident travelling by bus. They explored the city walls, went to the shops and played in the park before getting the public bus back to school! Well done everyone🚌🚍🎒

Our Monday Residential group recently took part in an exciting paddle boarding session with the Coquet Shorebase Trust on the lake at Druridge Bay.

The young people learnt how to paddle safely and use the oar correctly, followed safety instructions, and showed great confidence throughout the session. Some were even brave enough to jump into the lake or paddle their legs in the water!

A huge well done to the group – we are very proud of their effort, enthusiasm, and willingness to try something new.

👏 Well done, everyone!👏
