12th August - Perseid meteor shower

Tomorrow night The Perseid meteor shower peaks overnight and 2026 is a good year for it - there's a new moon, so no moonlight to wash out the fainter meteors.

You could see up to 100 shooting stars an hour at the very peak, best viewed in the hours before dawn. We're sat inside Europe's largest Gold Tier Dark Sky Park, so honestly, you don't need to go far.

Wrap up, grab a flask, and look up to the stars ✨

2026 is looking to be a bumper year for stargazing and astronomy! By far the most anticipated event is the solar eclipse on 12th August; the Sun will be fully eclipsed when viewed from the Atlantic, northern Spain and Balearic Islands, with many parts of the UK able to observe a 90% covered Sun.
