With a total of over 160 young people competing in local inter-school/intra-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

Our Year 5 pupils' artwork is heading to the National Gallery!
We are incredibly proud to share that our Year 5 pupils have been shortlisted in the National Gallery's prestigious Take One Picture competition, with their stunning fused glass artwork selected to be exhibited at the National Gallery in London this summer! Over 79,000 children entered the competition with only 35 classes selected for the showcase.
Inspired by this year's focus painting (A Regatta on the Grand Canal), children explored colour, light and creativity to create beautiful fused glass pieces, supported by local artist Genevieve Thompson. They impressed the judges and earned a place in the national exhibition.
To have their artwork displayed at one of the world's most renowned galleries is an extraordinary achievement and a wonderful recognition of the imagination, hard work and artistic talent of our pupils.
Congratulations to everyone involved - we couldn't be prouder.

How fabulous are our Year 6's Yinka Shonibare inspired wind sculptures? You can clearly see the Nigerian colour palette and patterns that Year 6 have tried to capture. Families will be able to view these in person at this half term's Art and Music festival - details to follow.

Year 6 had a fantastic workshop today with HMP Not-4-Me. Not only did the day support our Crime and Punishment unit, but it also made many valuable links to our PSHE curriculum.
The children learnt about the importance of school rules and how many of these reflect laws that are in place to keep everyone safe. Throughout the day, we explored key British Values, including the Rule of Law, Tolerance and Individual Liberty.
Alongside this, the children experienced what happens when a law is broken - from arrest and custody through to sentencing, prison and release. They had their fingerprints and mugshots taken and even stepped inside the ‘prison’ van to experience what time in a cell might feel like.
The workshop also explored bystander behaviour and how association with others can lead to consequences. Through a range of scenarios, the children considered the roles different people played and discussed how their actions contributed to the crime.
In the afternoon, the children became detectives as they investigated a crime scene, using clues and evidence booklets to solve the case. To finish the day, we took part in a quiz to consolidate everything we had learnt.
What a fantastic experience for our Year 6 children and a truly engaging cross-curricular learning day!

All the staff at Hill View are incredibly proud of the hard work, determination and resilience our Year 6 pupils have shown during SATs week. They enjoyed celebrating the end of tests by 'decorating' the playground with old practice papers, and will continue their celebrations tomorrow with the traditional pizza party.
Well done everyone - your work ethics are something to be proud of.

Congratulations Year 5; more success for Hill View children. This time in a dragon boat racing competition!
We are proud of the competitive spirit and strong sporting performances Hill View pupils have shown over the past few weeks, winning 4 consecutive tournaments. However, we are more impressed by the way they have won, with incredible sportsmanship, kindness and compassion. At all 4 tournaments the children have received so many compliments from parents and staff.
Well done Year 5 and all of those who have taken part in tournaments recently. We could not be prouder of how you continue to represent our school.

Whistlestop Valley 2026
Our Reception children had a fantastic day at Whistlestop Valley, combing hands-on-learning with lots of fun and adventure.
Children enjoyed a steam journey, learned about the history of the railway and locomotives, and watched the engine turn on the turntable.
Another experience that helps bring learning to life and create lasting memories.

On Tuesday, Year 5 visited the The Hepworth Wakefield to take part in a sculpture workshop linked to our Henry Moore sculpture topic. During the visit, we explored the gallery and sketched some of Barbara Hepworth’s sculptures using a range of different drawing techniques.
After this, the children used charcoal to shade a large square before using rubbers to ‘carve out’ their own sculpture designs, just like a sculptor would carve into stone. The children thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and produced some fantastic artwork inspired by Hepworth’s abstract sculptures.
