It is with great sadness that everyone at the Scottish Martial Arts Centre learned of the passing of Jim Henderson.

Jim was a familiar and much-loved face within the SMAC family — always smiling, always supportive and, above all, a devoted dad to his girls.

Our hearts are especially with Hollie, one of our most promising young students, and her family at what is an incredibly difficult time. We know how proud Jim was of Hollie and how much he supported her journey. His presence and encouragement at competitions will be deeply missed by all of us.

Only a few weeks ago, Jim had the incredibly proud moment of presenting Hollie with her black belt — a memory that will now mean even more.

The whole SMAC family sends our love and deepest condolences to Hollie and everyone who loved Jim.

Rest easy, Jim. You’ll always be part of the SMAC family, and we promise we’ll always be there for Hollie. 💙❤️💙

🥂 Congratulations to Mr & Mrs McGill! 💍❤️

A massive congratulations to Sean and his beautiful bride Hannah on their wedding day! We wish you both a lifetime of happiness together.

Sean holds a special place in the history of our club, having been one of our very first students. From those early days, he went on to achieve his Taekwondo Black Belt before becoming a Kickboxing World Champion. 🥋🏆🌍

Although Sean has since retired from the sport, he’s taken that same drive, discipline and determination into his career and continued to achieve great things.

One of the nicest moments was hearing Sean talk about just how much his years of martial arts training helped shape the person he is today.

As instructors, that’s what it’s all about. The belts, medals and championships are fantastic achievements, but knowing that the lessons learned through martial arts stay with our students long after they leave the mats means even more.

From everyone at the Scottish Martial Arts Centre,

Alana Gruneberg-Mackenzie takes on Rebecca Smith at 72kg

Alana will be representing SMAC and gets another chance to test herself in front of the home crowd following her dominant debut performance.

Should be a good competitive bout and a great addition to the card.
