๐ Confidence and learning are more connected than we sometimes realise.
It can start with something really small
๐ A child doesnโt understand part of a lesson.
๐ They donโt want to put their hand up.
๐ They stop asking questions.
๐ A small gap starts to grow.
And before long, they begin thinking:
โIโm just not good at this.โ
Thatโs the confidence cycle.
And once a child starts believing they canโt do something, theyโre often less willing to try, which can make the problem grow even further. The good news?
๐ The cycle can be broken.
โ
Encourage questions.
โ
Celebrate effort, not just correct answers.
โ
Remind them that getting something wrong is part of learning.
โ
And create opportunities where they feel safe saying:
โI donโt understand this yet.โ
Sometimes the first thing a child needs isnโt more homework.
Itโs the confidence to ask for help. ๐
